After a successful theatrical run in 2023, The Iron Claw will finally be made available for streaming at home. Chronicling the rise and fall of pro wrestling's famous Von Erich family, the movie is coming to the streaming platform Max, this May.
The Iron Claw is based on a true story following the Von Erich dynasty of wrestlers whose contribution to the sport since the 1960s is immeasurable. Coming from Cannes and Sundance prize-winning filmmaker Sean Durkin, and with lead stars like Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Lily James, the movie will be available for streaming from May 10, 2024.

What is Iron Claw all about?
Iron Claw is a biographical drama that follows the Von Erich family, who had immense fame in the wrestling industry. Despite the fame, the family faced a series of tragedies. Being associated with these devastating personal events, the family was deemed as cursed.
The movie follows how the Von Erich family thrived in the iron fist of the father and patriarch, Fritz, where the sons were always pushed to exceed expectations. While most of the brothers were happy to follow in their father's footsteps and take the family legacy forward by jumping into the ring, the film reveals that this wasn't the case for the entire lot of the Von Erich children.
The Iron Claw explores the relationship between the Von Erich brothers, who continued to support one another as they often outshone one another, with their careers thriving under the watchful eyes of their strict father. However, when tragedy rips the family apart, Kevin Von Erich (Zac Efron) is left holding the pieces together.
Who stars in Iron Claw?
Iron Claw is directed by Sean Durkin, who reportedly told IndieWire that he was inspired to tell the story of the Von Erich family after watching interviews with Kevin Von Erich.
"He spoke so openly and honestly and at length about his family's trauma, his own personal experience, stories of his upbringing, stories of his own considered suicide."
Zac Efron was cast as the main character of Kevin Von Erich. Durkin revealed that Efron was the first choice to play Kevin.
"Zac was the first person I met with. When I met him, he's just got this kindness, this sweetness to him that I knew Kevin needed."
Zac Efron is an American actor who rose to prominence as a teen idol for his leading role as Troy Bolton in the High School Musical trilogy (2006–2008). He is also popular for his roles in 17 Again (2009), The Lucky One (2012), The Paperboy (2012), Neighbors (2014), Baywatch (2017), and The Greatest Showman (2017). He won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2021 for hosting the Netflix travel show Down to Earth with Zac Efron (2020–2022).
Efron is joined by Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, the fourth-oldest son of the family. Speaking about the Oscar attention the movie has been getting, White told Deadline,
"I mean, all this stuff is amazing, and it feels really good. You work hard at something, and you're rewarded in this way. But, also, so much of this is out of our control, and I think when I go to work, so much of it is about the experience, and if the experience is fulfilling, and if I enjoy the people I'm around, that's a win for me. And, outside of that, it's like, you never really know what's going to click with the masses. You never really know what people are going to be taken with, and I know that. So, it's okay for me."
