PETA criticized Katy Perry for having real animals in the music video for her hit song, Roar

In September 2013, Merrilee Burke from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released a statement to the press, criticizing the pop star for using an elephant, a monkey, birds, and a tiger in her Roar music video. PETA then claimed animals suffer from "violent training methods" so they can appear in film and television.
"What you may not know — as most people do not — is that animals used for entertainment in film and television endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods," the organization stated.
According to NBC's September 17, 2013, report, Perry responded by stating that the American Humane Association was present at the sets during filming, and they followed every guideline to ensure the animals weren't harmed in the process of shooting.
"American Humane Association was on set for the filming of the above referenced music video, which used an elephant, a monkey, birds and a tiger. After reviewing the reports, we believe that the Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media were followed and that no animal was harmed in the making of this music video," the singer stated.
Katy Perry admitted she got "fresh botox" for her The Lifetimes Tour
While performing at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on June 4, 2025, Perry stated that she was tired as her four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, kept her awake at night. The pop star jokingly said the audience couldn't see her tiredness because she got "fresh Botox" for the world tour.
"You can't tell I'm tired because I got fresh botox for Australia," Perry said.
The Lifetimes Tour is scheduled to end in Abu Dhabi on December 7, 2025.
