Euphoria star Hunter Schafer opened up about her personal turmoils and her relationship with co-star Dominic Fike in a recent interview with host Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast on August 7, 2024. The two broke up over a year back in April 2023, and Hunter revealed that infidelity was one of the major reasons in her interview. Schafer said:

“Part of why the relationship ended is because I got cheated on for the first time. It’s part of my truth, but that fundamentally changed me as a person."

In the interview with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Hunter Schafer opened up about Dominic Fike and revealed he was the first cis, straight-identifying man she had ever dated. She also revealed that she blamed herself when she first discovered that her ex-boyfriend was cheating on her.

“As a trans woman, with a man who has never dated that [type of person] before, because of the way I’ve been socialized as a trans woman, it’s been this crux in my life of what life has been so hard sometimes, I was like, ‘Oh, god is this it? Can I just not?’” expressed Hunter Schafer.

However, the Euphoria star emphasized that the end of their relationship wasn't violent and was one of her 'cleaner breakups.' However, the entire debacle had a big psychological impact and fundamentally changed her.

"It’s one of the cleaner breakups I’ve had. We both recognized that this is not working, and we can’t do this. We gotta go our own separate ways," commented Schafer.

She continued:

"It’s part of my truth, but that fundamentally changed me as a person. And it was this whole process of realizing that cheating has nothing to do with you at all."

Hunter went on to share her experience of being public about her relationship with Dominic Fike. He is a straight man, and Hunter was the first trans-woman girlfriend he had had. In the interview, she elaborated on her experience of being in public eyes with her straight and cis-gendered boyfriend.

“This is a straight guy who is in the music scene, too. And we are in a public relationship. He’s dating a trans woman, and he’s completely straight. He’s only dated cis women before, and he’s toting me around, happy to be my boyfriend in front of the world. And people are saying horrible, nasty shit because it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re so gay.’ He didn’t care at all,” comented the actress.

In the end, she reflected on her own mistakes and opined that she, too, needed to figure a lot out and work on herself. According to the actress, many things that weren't connected to her and Dominic Fike became issues that finally jeopardized their relationship to the point of no return.
