The Bailey member and DDG, a.k.a. Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., were in a relationship starting in 2022. They welcomed their son, Halo, in December 2023. However, in October of the same year, they announced their separation.

The custody drama began last month, after courts granted the actress a temporary restraining order and full custody of Halo until a court hearing, originally scheduled for Wednesday, June 4. At the time, she accused him of physical and emotional abuse.

The hearing was delayed after DDG filed a competing custody case on Wednesday. In his petition, the rapper accused Bailey of posing "emotional and psychological risk" to their son.

Along with his restraining order petition, DDG requested the court for an emergency hearing to restrict Halle Bailey from traveling internationally with Halo, reported Money Control. He alleged that the actress was an unfit parent who posed an "emotional and psychological risk" to their son, citing her repeated and documented "threats of self-harm."

Per the outlet, he accused Bailey of physical abuse and emotional coercion. This included alleged threats of self-harm when he tried to break up and threats of abortion if he refused to "reconcile or accede to her demands." DDG's appeal also included a declaration by his mother alleging Halle Bailey used AirTags to survey and stalk her son.

According to Billboard, Halle Bailey, in a response declaration, denied the Twitch streamer's claims, writing:

"(He) has exaggerated, lied and misconstrued for the court, not only the history of our relationship, but our parenting and my mental health."

The actress explained that she has been "very vocal" about her mental health struggles, including "anxiety, depression, and previous thoughts of suicide." Halle continued to add that she has since "reached out" to her doctor and "received treatment" for the same.

"I have been and remain 100% available and capable as a parent to our son, Halo," the actress asserted.

Halle Bailey elaborated that the mental health "incidents" that DDG cited in his petition date back to 2022 and 2023, when she was "emotionally devastated" by the rapper's behavior.

It is worth noting that Bailey might be referencing the February 2023 cheating rumors after DDG responded to ex-girlfriend Rubi Rose's tweet. It could also reference the rapper's July 2023 track Famous, where he criticized Halle for holding the hands of her co-star Jonah Hauer-King during The Little Mermaid press tour.

In the declaration, Halle Bailey continued to assert:

"Had Darryl really been concerned about my parenting, he would have taken action prior to this time. This is cold retribution to embarrass, humiliate and caused me additional emotional distress."

Courts have granted both Bailey and DDG their respective restraining orders. However, the rapper's bid to restrict international travel was rejected on the grounds of "insufficient evidence," adding that a hearing would determine the same. Neither personality has publicly commented on the custody battle.
