TikTok influencer and rapper Toosii is facing heat from netizens after he compared NBA YoungBoy to Michael Jackson. The Instagram account @theshaderoom shared a screenshot of Toosii's tweet on Thursday, June 5, 2025, which read:
"NBA Youngboy really the Michael Jackson of this generation it’s crazy."
It is worth noting that the original X post by the rapper has since been taken down.
For the unversed, NBA YoungBoy is a rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who rose to fame in the late 2010s with his singles Untouchable and No Smoke. Notably, according to Rolling Stone, the rapper has sold over 80 million digital units in the US, making him one of the highest RIAA-certified artists in the country.
In 2022, when he was just 22, the RIAA honored him with a plaque certifying he had more than 100 platinum and gold singles, making him the youngest to achieve this feat. The rapper is also the youngest artist to have 100 songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 (at age 23).
As Toosii's post comparing him to the King of Pop went viral, internet users were quick to react. One shocked Instagram user commented:
"I beg your finest pardon???!"

Many claimed this was the TikTok influencer's attempt at rage-baiting, further noting that it was disrespectful.

Others suggested that it was difficult to match MJ's legacy and success.

Later the same day, Twitch streamer DDG shared a post suggesting he understood how Michael Jackson "felt being famous"
This is not the first time someone has likened NBA YoungBoy to Michael Jackson. Fans of the Louisiana rapper have frequently stated that the two personalities have a similar appearance.
Meanwhile, the rapper himself has not publicly commented on these comparisons.
In other news, later the same day as Toosii's controversial tweet, DDG, who is currently in the middle of a custody battle with ex Halle Bailey, shared an X post seemingly alluding to being as famous as MJ. Referring to the online discussions on his legal matters, he tweeted on June 5:
"Now I know how Michael Jackson felt being famous... sh*t crazy."
The streamer and rapper might have been referring to the several controversies surrounding Michael Jackson, including claims he molested a teenager.
DDG and Halle Bailey dated between 2022 and 2024 and share a son, Halo (born in December 2023). Last month, the actress was granted a restraining order against the rapper after she accused him of physical and emotional abuse. She was also granted physical custody of their son until another court hearing.
However, on the day of the hearing (June 4), DDG filed a competing custody case, alleging Halle was a mentally unfit mother. He accused the Little Mermaid star of posing "emotional and psychological risk" to their son on the grounds of her alleged repeated "threats of self-harm."
According to Billboard on June 5, in a response declaration, Halle Bailey denied the allegations, saying the rapper was exaggerating in "cold retribution." She acknowledged having mental health struggles but asserted she sought help and "received treatment" for the same. The actress also questioned why DDG never took legal action earlier if he had concerns about her parenting.
DDG's comment, seemingly comparing himself to Michael Jackson, was met with backlash. However, he has not publicly commented on the controversy as of this writing.
