"That motherf***er Dot is filling up this venue" — DJ Akademiks breaks down his experience at Kendrick Lamar's concert in Detroit

Kendrick Lamar and SZA were in Detroit for their Grand National Tour show on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Meanwhile, a video of DJ Akademiks had been going viral since it was posted on X on Wednesday, June 11, by joebuddenclips/fanpage. In the video, he reflected upon his experience at the Detroit show.

Akademiks first revealed that he initially preferred going to one of Lamar's shows in Inglewood last month, however, they reportedly got filled in quite fast. He then said that nobody knew that he was going to be at a Kendrick Lamar concert. Describing his experience at the show, DJ Akademiks said:

"There's a lot I could really get into, but first and foremost I say this: That motherf*cker dot is filling up this venue, like this venue is filled. Real people, clearly not no bots."

Elsewhere during his statement, DJ Akademiks claimed that many previously suggested him to avoid going to these shows, since he apparently had been inclined towards other artists. However, Akademiks repeatedly emphasized the fact that he did not take things personally and had no personal issues with any artist.

DJ Akademiks further spoke about his experience in Detroit, where he went for the first time. He added that a driver had treated him well and that he had nothing bad to say about the city. Meanwhile, the viral video has garnered more than 55K views as well as over 450 likes since it was uploaded.

Kendrick Lamar announced two additional dates for his Grand National Tour

A day after Kendrick Lamar's hit show in Detroit, the rapper revealed that two new dates were getting added to the existing schedule. On Wednesday, June 11, he said that he would perform in Australia on two new dates in December.

The first show will be held on December 3 at the AAMI Park in Melbourne and the second one is scheduled to be held on December 10 at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney. The announcement about the new dates came after Lamar was revealed to be a part of the Spilt Milk Festival, which is also scheduled to be held in December.

The lineup for this festival includes several other artists like Doechii, Sara Landry, Dominic Fike, and Schoolboy Q, who are supposed to be headlining the event.

As for Kendrick Lamar's ongoing tour, his next performance is set in Toronto, on June 12. The rapper will perform on two consecutive shows in Toronto. He is also scheduled to cover several European cities for his tour, including Cologne, Glasgow, Nanterre, London, Lisbon, Barcelona, Warsaw, and Rome.

Before the addition of the two new shows in Australia, Lamar's tour was going to conclude with its final show in Stockholm, Sweden, on August 9, 2025. The rapper has already covered several U.S. cities like Atlanta, Houston, Inglewood, Glendale, Paradise, Chicago, and more.

The ongoing tour has reportedly been held to promote Kendrick Lamar's GNX as well as SZA's first reissue album, SOS Deluxe: Lana.
