A video of a woman showcasing the security and paramedics setup outside Rogers Centre in Toronto ahead of Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Grand National Tour show recently went viral on social media.
For the uninitiated, the duo's record-breaking tour has two consecutive shows in Toronto on June 12 and 13, 2025. This is reportedly Kendrick Lamar's first show in Canada following his contentious rap battle with Drake (a Canadian native).
Hours before the June 12 show was scheduled to begin, a woman took to social media to post a video of Rogers Centre from her apartment, claiming she lived next to the venue. She claimed that she spotted at least three paramedic vans around the venue, in addition to multiple security or police personnel on the street outside the stadium.
The video, uploaded to X by The Art of Dialogue, shows a few white vans, presumed to be ambulances, parked next to several trucks in the parking lot. Elsewhere in the video, a row of either security or police in dark uniforms is seen standing in a line-like formation on the road next to a couple of police cars.
"I counted three, there might be more, three paramedic vans parked right outside the stadium... And if you look down the road there, there's a line, I don't know if they're security or cops or what they are, but they're just standing on the street in this line formation, and I don't know why," the woman says in the video.
The woman claimed that the presence of multiple paramedic vans was "super sus," alleging that she did not notice a similar pattern when Taylor Swift had previously performed in the same venue during The Eras Tour.
Meanwhile, media personality DJ Akademiks recently claimed that Kendrick Lamar flew out of Toronto to New York after the first show for safety reasons, further alleging that he will fly back to Toronto for the second show.
In an X post on June 12, Akademiks also claimed that Lamar planned to leave Canada as soon as the second show on June 13 was over. However, Akademiks' claims have not been confirmed by any official sources.
Toronto fans call for an encore after Kendrick Lamar performs Not Like Us
Not Like Us, Kendrick Lamar's Grammy-winning diss targeting his rival Drake, garnered a positive reaction from Toronto fans at the Rogers Centre on June 12, with Lamar reportedly receiving a two-minute ovation. Fans also called for an encore, yelling to the Compton rapper:
"One more time, one more time, one more time!"
Not Like Us, released in May 2024, broke several records on streaming platforms, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for weeks, and earned the rapper multiple accolades, including Grammys and BET Awards.
Kendrick Lamar live debuted Not Like Us during his Juneteenth pop-out show in 2024, performing the Mustard-produced track multiple times. He also performed Not Like Us at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, despite the song being the subject of Drake's defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group.
While Kendrick Lamar omitted mentioning the word p*dophile, he name-dropped Drake while looking straight into the camera and then continued to rap the song's iconic line, "Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minor."
Drake sued UMG over Not Like Us
According to the Guardian, the lawsuit, filed in January 2025, suggested that the record label “approved, published and launched a campaign to create a viral hit out of a rap track.”
It added that the campaign was “intended to convey the specific, unmistakable, and false factual allegation that Drake is a criminal p*dophile, and to suggest that the public should resort to vigilante justice in response."
"Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one/ To any b***h that talk to him and they in love/ Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him... Certified Lover Boy? Certified p*dophiles/ Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, Dot, f**k 'em up," Kendrick Lamar raps in Not Like Us.
The case is still ongoing as of this article's writing, with both parties in discovery.
In other news, Kendrick Lamar and SZA's first show in Toronto reportedly became one of the tour's highest-grossing shows as of this article's writing. The ticket-selling platform StubHub reportedly experienced a spike in ticket demand before the show.
Meanwhile, Drake was expected to join Kai Cenat for a livestream around the same time that Kendrick Lamar was scheduled to perform in Toronto on June 12. According to HipHop DX, the livestream, reportedly planned to announce the prizewinners of the Somebody Loves Me music video competition, was postponed indefinitely after Cenat claimed they needed more time to select the winners.
