Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand scored the go-ahead goal and the double-overtime winner to lift his side to a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday.
His wife, Katrina Marchand, was hyped by his shorthanded goal in the second period. Katrina reposted a clip of Marchand’s first goal and wrote:
“LFG 😤”

The Panthers opened the scoring in a little over two minutes when Sam Bennett netted his 13th playoff goal after a high-sticking penalty on Edmonton’s Evander Kane. Kane quickly answered, tying the game 1-1. Evan Bouchard put the Oilers ahead 2-1.
The Panthers came back as Seth Jones made it 2-2, but Bennett was penalized for goaltender interference and Edmonton used the power play well as Connor McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl for a 3-2 lead.
Dmitry Kulikov tied it with a wrist shot before Florida's Niko Mikkola took a penalty. However, instead of Edmonton scoring, it was Florida that capitalized. Anton Lundell fed Brad Marchand on the shorthanded breakaway and he made it 4-3.
Florida held on to the lead for most of the third. But with just 18 seconds remaining, Corey Perry found a loose puck and scored. The game went to overtime, where Lundell again set up Marchand, who scored the winner at 8:04. The Panthers won 5-4 to tie the series at 1-1.
Boston is paying tribute to Brad Marchand
Earlier this week, the city of Boston paid a special tribute to Brad Marchand ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Marchand spent 15 seasons with the Bruins before being traded to the Panthers at the trade deadline this year.
To honor him, the Edward Everett Hale statue in the Boston Public Garden was decked in a Brad Marchand jersey. A local page, OnlyInBos, shared a photo of the statue on Instagram, noting it was dressed to support the ex-Bruins captain as he begins his Stanley Cup run with Florida.
“The Edward Everett Hale statue in Boston Public Garden is wearing a Brad Marchand jersey today in honor of the former Boston Bruin as he chases for another Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, starting tonight,” read the caption of the post.
Brad Marchand’s wife Katrina later reposted it on her stories with three heart hands emojis.
