The Washington Capitals beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4, but one moment stood out. Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren scored in the team’s net in a strange error.
At 7:25 in the third period, Brayden Point finished his hat trick when Lindgren accidentally shot the puck into his net. Lindgren had left the net to play the puck behind the boards but misfired, giving Tampa Bay a 4-3 lead.

Washington Capital’s third-period dominance covered for Charlie Lindgren’s error
On Wednesday, the Washington Capitals (15-6-1) beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 in a close game at Amalie Arena.
Brayden Point scored first for Tampa (11-8-2) at 3:58 of the first period with a backhand shot. He added another goal at 12:27, scoring on a power play with a wrist shot off Nikita Kucherov’s pass.
Andrew Mangiapane reduced the lead to 2-1 in the second period with a redirection from Lars Eller’s one-timer. Aliaksei Protas tied it 2-2 with a short-handed goal at 12:29. Michael Eyssimont restored Tampa’s lead at 19:16, scoring on a backhand after winning a puck battle.
Dylan Strome tied it 3-3 in the third period with a shot from the left circle. Point completed a hat trick at 7:25, giving Tampa a 4-3 lead. John Carlson tied it 4-4 at 10:30. Tom Wilson scored the winner on a power-play tip-in at 16:34.
