New York Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin is the number one goalie in the NHL. NHL Network posted its list of the NHL’s top-10 goalies with Shesterkin leading the charge.

However, not all fans are convinced that NHL Network got it right. Some took to social media to share their views regarding Igor Shesterkin’s lofty placement. Here are some choice comments from skeptical fans:

“But did he win the cup?” a fan chimed in.
“If he was so good. Why did he get bounced so fast in playoffs every year,” another fan opined.
“This must be in the universe that Hellebuyck doesn’t exist,” this fan commented.

While skeptical fans didn’t hold back, plenty of supportive NHL followers voiced their opinions, applauding Igor Shesterkin for his top ranking. Here’s a look at what these fans had to say:

“Anyone who disagrees I just need you to understand how difficult it is for him to do his job with Jacob Trouba playing in front of him,” a fan weighed in.
“11 million dollar contract incoming. He's gonna make more than Bob and price. Has to,” this fan Tweeted.
“Now the Rangers have to do the right thing and pay him $13m per year,” another fan posted on social media.

Igor Shestekin and the Rangers go into this season looking to get over the hump and make the Stanley Cup Final.

If Igor Shesterkin can continue playing like the number-one goalie he is, the Rangers will have a good chance to make a deep playoff run.

Igor Shesterkin tops an impressive list

NHL Network’s top-10 list includes a list of notable netminders, many of whom have won Stanley Cups and Vezina Trophies.

Ranking second is Winnipeg Jets’ starter Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, who took home his second Vezina this offseason. Hellebuyck beat out No. 6 on the list, the Vancouver Canucks’ Thatcher Demko, and the Florida Panthers’ Sergei Bobrovsky, ranked seventh.

However, the star power doesn’t stop there. Ranking third is two-time Cup champion Andrei Vasilevsky. Behind him is the Boston Bruins’ up-and-coming star Jeremy Swayman.

Surprisingly, the fifth spot went to the New York Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin. Despite not winning a Vezina Trophy yet, Sorokin has been one of the most dominant netminders in the league. Sorokin would have ranked higher had he had won a Vezina or if the Isles had won a Cup.

Rounding out the top are Dallas Stars’ Jake Oettinger in the eighth spot, Nashville Predators’ Juuse Saros ninth and Ottawa Senators’ new acquisition Linus Ullmark claimed the number 10 spot.

It will be interesting to see if Igor Sheksterkin can hold on to the top spot as the other top-tier netminders look to improve theirs.
