"Penguins haven’t been fun to watch in over three years. Just bad all around. Nice night from Joel but otherwise atrocious. Offense with lots of giveaways. Defense playing on their heels and not getting to the puck first to create pressure," another fan commented.

"Coach Sullivan’s shelf life - “Use by 10/05/2021”," one X user said.

Criticism of head coach Mike Sullivan was common. Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"I'm sorry but Sullivan needs to go. It's not going to get any better until real changes are made," a fan said.
"fire sullivan! leave him in edmonton for all I care, he can find his was home. Do not let him board that plane," a fan commented.

"The entire coaching staff needs to go. Wholesale change. Even though Sullivan has been the main problem for years, the rest of them are clones and will continue to operate the same way if he’s gone. This team is stale, listless, and has zero identity," a fan tweeted.
