Recently, Jason Kelce revealed on the New Heights podcast that Claude Giroux would go into the Philadelphia Eagles locker room and ask to arm wrestle anyone in there. From 2007 to 2021, Giroux was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers and thus a part of the Philly sports scene with Kelce.

He was asked in a Q&A with The Athletic if there was any truth to what Kelce said. Giroux replied:

"It wasn’t in the locker room, but yeah, we did hang out with them for a little bit. There were some chirps here and there, and we ended up arm-wrestling a few guys. It was all fun and games. It was pretty cool."

Giroux was asked who he beat, and he said he couldn't remember, but he was certain he defeated someone. He also acknowledged that he tried to take on Kelce but that the Eagles center took it easy on him.

He said after:

"Yeah. I think Connor Barwin was the guy I arm-wrestled. There were a few challenges and it was a lot of fun."

Giroux finished by admitting he had no idea what his win-loss record was in those arm wrestles, but he said on a few occasions that it was a lot of fun. Now, Kelce has retired from the NFL and Giroux plays for the Ottawa Senators.

Claude Giroux reflects on individual season

Claude Giroux has been asked quite often about his personal performance and his overall level of play. More often than not, he deflects to the team and isn't interested in analyzing his own performance if the team doesn't win.

But when pressed, he said, via The Athletic:

"Ah, not bad. You just try to find ways to win games and help the team win. I think some games we’re trending in the right direction and (in other games) maybe we take a step back. Obviously losing (Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres) hurts us a little bit. But it’s about the next game and the guys are pretty dialled in right now."

This year, Giroux has 11 points in 12 games played. He's scored five goals and added six assists while the Senators are off to a 6-6-0 start to the 2024-25 NHL season.
