WWE Superstar Sami Zayn is a huge fan of Montreal Canadiens

Sami Zayn is a massive fan of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens. Zayn, regarded as one of the most prominent WWE wrestlers in the world, once wanted to be a professional hockey player.

Sami Zayn hails from Canada, where the people's passion for hockey is unshakable. While the WWE superstar is on a break from his hectic schedule, he enjoys attending NHL games, particularly those involving the Montreal Canadiens. He has been a fan of the team since he was four years old.

During an interview with the NHL in 2015, Sami Zayn described his love for ice hockey and how he became a huge Montreal Canadiens fan:

"I've been a huge Habs fan ever since I was really young. My earliest memory is from the 1989 season when I was four years old. I remember the Stanley Cup Finals between Montreal and Calgary, which we unfortunately lost."

Zayn continued by saying that until 1995, he was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens. But later, he turned his attention to his career as a professional wrestler, which prevented him from watching NHL games for ten years.

Yet, being out of the game for an extended period didn't stop him from keeping up with what was happening with the Habs, and having grown up in Montreal, news of the team was always around the corner.

Zayn also talked about how, after his wrestling career reached a high point, he opted to return to the NHL in 2005. He has been an ardent fan of the Canadiens ever since:

"For a good 10 years, I stopped watching hockey, but being in Montreal, you can't escape it completely and you always hear how the Habs are doing. When I grew up and my wrestling career started going really well, I dove back into hockey around 2005 and I've been a die-hard fan since then." - (via NHL.com)
