Caroline Jurevicius, a Penn State Nittany Lions volleyball athlete, talked about the team's confidence heading into the NCAA Volleyball Tournament in December 2024. Jurevicius played an integral role in anchoring the Penn State women's volleyball team to victory against Nebraska on November 29 for a share of the Big Ten title.

Jurevicius was first enrolled to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers last year. However, she transferred to Penn State and her new team handed her former team a four-set defeat inside a sold-out Rec Hall crowd at the Big Ten Championships. Jurevicius recorded 18 kills on a .414 hitting percentage, downing the Huskers 25-21, 14-25, 25-22, 25-23.

In a post-match interview with NCAA Women's Volleyball, the Penn State standout talked about the team's strong form, heading to the NCAA Championships in December. She said,

"We know we can do it. It's just a matter of capitalizing on that" (3:18).

When asked about the team's strategy before the match-up with Nebraska, Jurevicius said her team simply entered the court wanting to win.

"We got to want it. I think it's just as simple as that. We wanted it and I dont't think there's any more words I can describe how we were approaching it other than just the desire."

In the first set, Caroline Jurevicius registered a kill to give Penn State a 4-0 lead over her former team. Following a loss in the second set, the team rebounded in Set 3 with Jurevicius contributing six kills. She recorded five kills in the fourth set to earn her team the win.

Caroline Jurevicsius' defensive play was also impressive, as she had two blocks and two digs.

Ahead of the 2024 Selection Show for the NCAA tournament later in December, Caroline Jurevicius helped Penn State have a share of the Big Ten title.

In a post-match interview, she said her efforts during the build-up to the Big Ten Championships paid off on Friday night. She said (via PSU Collegian),

"I think the moments where I have to tell myself to calm down, that’s how I know I'm gonna have a good night. I put in a lot of work, meditation, mindfulness, doing just extra walkthrough reps, just making sure that I’m in the right headspace. Today was no different than that.”

The Penn State women's volleyball team's coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley praised Jurevicius, saying:

“I thought (Caroline) played one of her best matches, but I’m not surprised. She’s putting the time in and doing the things that we’re asking her to do … She had laser focus today.”

The Cornhuskers' match against Maryland will decide whether Penn State lifts the Big Ten trophy or will have to split it with the No. 2.
