Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team captain Lexi Rodriguez shed light on their "Senior Night" on Saturday (November 23). The team celebrated the senior night with a 3-0 win against the Wisconsin Badgers.
This was also Rodriguez's last regular season game at the Huskers' volleyball team's home arena - the Bob Devaney Sports Center - as the team's other remaining matches are away against Penn State and Maryland. As Rodriguez's stint with the Huskers is nearing its end, she has described the emotions of their senior group's special night at the Bob Devaney.
In an interview with NCAA women's volleyball's media handle, Rodriguez called her senior night a "whirlwind of emotions". She further shed light on the close bond she and her team have with each other and their aspirations of winning the conference and national championships in their last year.
"I mean that night was a whirlwind of emotions. Getting to have a win like that at senior night and also the emotions afterwards. This team is extremely close and this group of seniors has just poured their entire heart and everything they have in this program."
"For our senior class we want to finish with a Big Ten Championships and National Championships and so I just think all of those emotions coming together knowing it's one of those last times for playing in Devaney in our last regular season game," Lexi Rodriguez further added.
The Huskers are in an advantageous position to win the Big Ten Championships with no defeats in their 18 games this season. Their next match against Penn State could be a major deciding factor for the Huskers in this tournament.
