"We're getting robed up"- Mikaela Shiffrin shows off graduation attire before earning honorary degree from Dartmouth College

American alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin recently received an honorary college degree from Dartmouth College, located in New Hampshire. Several other notable individuals to receive this degree from the institution in 2025 include personalities such as David Benioff and Sandra Oh.

Shiffrin is one of the most decorated alpine ski racers in the world and has showcased her prowess in global events. This college degree is just a cherry on the cake for the alpine ski racer's career.

Shiffrin shared a video before the ceremony on her Instagram stories, where she could be seen in a traditional black robe as she prepared to receive her degree.

"We're getting robed up, gonna go out and get a degree. I am getting a college degree today," she said in the video.

The Alpine ski racer's mother, Eileen, also shared a post on her Instagram to express her happiness. She wrote:

"A brief moment with some of ours oldest and dear friends here in Hanover. Tomorrow, Father's Day, Mikaela will receive an Honorary degree from her dad's Alma Mater - Dartmouth. So special. Hearts full."

After the conclusion of the 2024-25 ski racing season, Mikaela Shiffrin and her fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, were seen enjoying some tennis during the Boss Open 2025.

Mikaela Shiffrin makes feelings known on facing mental hurdles due to giant slalom clash in Killington

In May, Mikaela Shiffrin spoke about the mental hurdles she faced after her crash in Killington back in November 2024. Shiffrin was forced to take a break from the slopes before returning to the circuit in Courchevel.

Speaking about this traumatic chapter, Shiffrin shared that she had flashbacks of the crash several times, even a few months after the crash. Shiffrin further opened up about the mental hurdles she faced after the crash and stated (via The Players Tribune):

"I’d be trying really hard to be precise with my training runs, and my body just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to do. Then, at some points, I’d get these random flashes in my mind. These really grim images. I’d be anticipating crashes. I’d see them in my head. See myself falling and going down."

Due to the crash and its subsequent mental hurdles, Shiffrin had to skip the giant slalom race during the 2025 World Skiing Championships. She eventually went on to win the team event during this World event.
