The Blake Lively v Justin Baldoni legal drama recently took an unexpected turn. According to The Guardian, Judge Lewis Liman, who was overseeing the lawsuit between the It Ends With Us co-stars, on Monday, June 9, 2025, dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million defamation claim against Lively and her actor husband, Ryan Reynolds.
After the dismissal of Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit was announced, American blogger and columnist Perez Hilton took to YouTube and talked about how Liz Plank, a journalist, author, and the former co-host of Justin Baldoni's "The Man Enough" podcast, reacted to the judge’s decision.
Perez Hilton, in his June 9, 2025, YouTube video, noted that the feminist author Liz Plank quit her podcast role after Blake Lively filed her initial sexual harassment complaint in California in December 2024. Hilton noted that Liz Plank seemingly reacted to a comment that was aimed at the dismissal of Justin Baldoni's lawsuits, and added,
“Responding to a comment that she liked that said quote: ‘I just saw the funniest boy problem get dismissed by a federal judge in New York. Lol.’ Liz Plank said, ‘Lmfaooo.’ She, too finds sexual harassment and retaliation hilarious.”
Dismissal of Justin Baldoni’s lawsuits explored
On Monday, June 9, Judge Lewis J. Liman of the U.S. District Court in Manhattan issued the latest ruling in a star-studded legal battle over the 2024 film It Ends With Us. The ruling is reportedly a major setback for Justin Baldoni, who filed a $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in January 2025.
As per The Guardian, after the judge found that the actress's accusations of sexual harassment against her co-star were legally protected, he ruled that Baldoni’s countersuit, which reportedly accused the Hollywood star couple of trying to destroy his reputation, was immune from suit.
Judge Liman dismissed actor Justin Baldoni’s $250 million defamation lawsuit against The New York Times. The judge ruled that the newspaper’s report on sexual harassment claims was protected by “fair report” privilege. The Times first reported Blake Lively’s complaint on December 21, 2024.
Notably, the judge’s ruling on Monday, as per The Guardian, said that the Wayfarer parties have alleged that Reynolds and his publicist Leslie Sloane made “additional statements accusing Baldoni of sexual misconduct” and that the news organization has made additional statements accusing them of “engaging in a smear campaign.”
The judge further wrote,
“But the Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Reynolds, Sloane or the Times would have seriously doubted these statements were true based on the information available to them, as is required for them to be liable for defamation under applicable law.”
Although Justin Baldoni’s suit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times was dismissed, the judge has allowed the actor and director to amend some allegations. As per CBS News, Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, which was a plaintiff, can refile their suit by June 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, after ending her podcast run with Baldoni in December 2024, Journalist Liz Plank, in an exclusive interview with People, published on May 14, 2025, talked about her next project.
She revealed her new venture will be a podcast named "Boy Problems", launching in June 2025 on Katie Couric Media. The series will reportedly feature personal stories and expert views on masculinity, dating, and gender dynamics.
