Podcaster Patrick Bet-David recently speculated whether the black eye that Elon Musk had sported during his final press conference at the White House was attributed to an altercation he had with someone. For the unversed, Musk recently completed 130 days as a special government employee, following which US President Donald Trump sent him off with a final press conference at the White House on May 30, 2025.
An apparent bruise over Elon Musk's left eye caught people's attention during the press conference, causing speculations to run wild on social media. Many wondered if the tech billionaire had engaged in fisticuffs with someone at the White House. However, Musk had claimed that he sustained the injury after playing with his five-year-old son.
During the June 5 episode of his eponymous podcast, Patrick Bet-David theorized whether Elon Musk and Donald Trump had a disagreement, causing a physical altercation to ensue that led to someone punching Musk.
"If you use your imagination, God knows what happened with that black eye. Was it a fight that took place? Somebody swung, and it really offended Elon, and he's like, 'Look what I'm going to do to you guys?' Who else could have been in that room, I don't know who it is," Bet-David said.
He continued:
"But think about that, that doesn't accidentally happen...Maybe it was a meeting where they were calling each other out and somebody just...Cos Elon started calling out Trump, and then it got nasty, and then somebody swung."
The podcaster also warned his viewers that everything he theorized on his podcast was based on speculations. However, he concurred that the timing of the black eye was a "little weird."
President Donald Trump also commented on the black eye situation during a press conference at the White House on June 4, claiming Elon Musk was offered makeup to cover the bruise, but he refused.
"You saw a man who was very happy when he stood behind the Oval desk. Even with a black eye. I said, do you want a little makeup? He said, 'No, I don't think so,' which is interesting ... Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore," Trump said.
Exploring the recent feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump

The once cordial relationship between Elon Musk and Donald Trump recently fractured, causing the two to engage in an online war of words via their respective social media platforms.
For context, Musk had been one of the major financial benefactors during Trump's presidential campaign in 2024. Following his win, the president made him the head of DOGE, a new initiative to oversee and cut back on federal spending.
Elon Musk's unofficial position in the US government caused immense blowback, with people calling for a nationwide boycott of his electric vehicle company, Tesla, in March 2025.
Trump had supported Musk amid Tesla's plummeting stock by purchasing a Tesla car for himself. However, their camaraderie seemingly hit a rough patch after Musk finished his 130 days as a federal worker and departed from the White House.
The two seemingly began trading insults, with Elon Musk dubbing the Congressional spending bill "disgusting "and "outrageous," in an X post on June 3.
"I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it," the tech billionaire wrote.
The situation spiralled from there via a series of social media posts on June 5. Trump threatened to cut Musk's government contracts, while Musk accused the president of not releasing the Epstein list because his name was in it.
In another X post, Elon Musk also claimed that he helped Trump secure the win against the Democrats in the election, suggesting that the president was being ungrateful.
"Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the White House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude," Musk wrote.
Trump dubs Musk "the man who has lost his mind"
According to the BBC, there had been talks of scheduling a meeting between Donald Trump and Elon Musk at the White House on June 6 to sort out the issue. However, the meeting was reportedly put off after Trump said he had no intention of speaking to the tech billionaire today, dubbing Musk "the man who has lost his mind" in a recent interview with ABC News.
The president is reportedly considering selling his Tesla, which he bought in March 2025 amid the backlash that the EV company faced due to Musk's mass federal layoffs as part of his government efficiency initiative. On June 5, Tesla shares dropped by 14% following the public spat between Trump and Musk, plunging by a whopping $150 billion.
Elon Musk's last activity on X was 19 hours ago at the time of writing this article, where he had reshared a post that claimed the Republicans will lose the House in the 2026 mid-term elections, leading to Trump's impeachment.
