Miley Cyrus recently opened up about a canceled music video collaboration that was supposed to feature popular personalities such as Madonna and Nelly, while appearing on the podcast Every Single Album on June 5, 2025. According to Cover magazine, the video was intended for the single 4x4, which was part of Miley’s album Bangerz, released in 2013.
Perez Hilton has now shared his response to the canceled collaboration, posting a video on his YouTube channel on June 7, 2025. The American blogger and columnist referred to Miley Cyrus’ interview on the podcast, saying that he is a big fan of the singer and actress, and added:
“Remember back when Miley used to be getting into beefs with fellow popstars. Well, those days are back.”
Perez Hilton stated that he enjoys it when the tensions between celebrities take a worse turn. The media personality addressed Miley’s statements, where she mentioned Taylor Swift, and continued:
“Promoting her new album on the Every Single Album podcast, Miley talked some smack about Taylor Allison Swift. And this is not shade, it’s straight up smack. And this is not me guessing. It’s straight up smack. She takes us back to the Bangerz era and she says that she wanted to make a wild music video starring Madonna and other fierce females.”
Perez also referred to the part where Miley Cyrus claimed that she shared a close friendship with many famous faces before Taylor Swift.
"I had everyone already lined up. Nelly … Madonna was down to do the video, Miranda Cosgrove. This was before Taylor [Swift] had a lot of famous people in her crew. I was friends with famous people first." Cyrus said in the podcast.
Hilton claimed that although Miley commented playfully, he considers it shady. He further stated:
“It’s still smack talk. Smack talk in the way that wrestlers talk smack about other wrestlers, but I love that. We need more spiciness in pop music.”
Miley Cyrus opened up about the reasons that canceled the music video collaboration
During her conversation on Every Single Album, the Two and a Half Men star said that all the artists were ready to appear in the music video of 4x4. Cyrus claimed that everyone was ready, including Madonna, Nelly, and Miranda Cosgrove.
Miley Cyrus also claimed that she had a “cool squad” as she knew many famous people. She further opened up on how everyone was preparing for the music video, as she stated:
"Madonna was down to mud wrestle with Miranda Kerr. I was like, ‘I’m gonna get all these girls, all these supermodels, all these Victoria’s Secret models and all of these pop icons to come to my dad’s farm, get in the back of 4x4s, and we’re gonna mud wrestle, and we’re gonna go out and do doughnuts."
Miley said on the podcast that the collaboration did not happen as per her expectations, since the record label RCA was not confident about her album. The Hannah Montana star addressed the same by saying:
“They weren’t totally as certain with the album as I was, my label thought that I wouldn’t have any time to make a music video since I was on tour at the time.”
As mentioned, 4x4 was a part of the album Bangerz and despite receiving a mixed response, the project managed to reach on top of the US Billboard 200. Meanwhile, the new album of Miley Cyrus, Something Beautiful, was released last month and features 13 songs in the soundtrack.
