His investment strategy, he explained, is not influenced by political or personal drama. Instead, he continues to prioritize business fundamentals and performance indicators when evaluating companies such as Tesla.

He emphasizes long-term fundamentals over political drama

In response to questions about Musk and Trump’s ongoing feud, Kevin O’Leary made it clear that his focus remains unchanged. The Shark Tank investor said:

“Ignore the noise. Focus on the signal.”

Kevin added that the pace of today’s news cycle makes it difficult for many to separate short-term distractions from long-term value. O’Leary explained that as an investor, he does not pay attention to "noise" such as public disputes.

He also confirmed his confidence in Tesla, stating that he continues to hold a long position in the firm. For Kevin, Tesla’s innovation across multiple sectors seemingly remains more important than any conflicts involving its CEO. By dismissing the current friction as irrelevant, he explained that the situation does not merit any action from him as an investor.

“I understand why it's happening. But find me another company like it. Why would I sell it?” he said.

Musk’s technological contributions remain central to O’Leary’s investment thesis

Kevin highlighted Musk’s contributions across several industries as a core reason for maintaining his investment in Tesla. He pointed to achievements that illustrate what he described as America’s “technical might,” referencing companies such as SpaceX, Starlink, and Neuralink.

“Elon Musk is a unique individual. Think about the achievements he's made and all of the different industries involved in that express the technical might of America,” he said.

He emphasized the real-world impact of these innovations by asking listeners to consider the situation of a soldier in Ukraine and how crucial "Starlink" is in that context. O'Leary implied that the broader technological ecosystem that Musk oversees continues to justify the investment strategy.

“Anything he's doing is SpaceX and Tesla and robotics and Eurolink,” he added.

The Shark Tank investor acknowledged that Musk’s influence extends beyond the U.S., noting that the "Chinese" are also involved, referring to the global interest in Musk’s ventures.

Strategic relevance outweighs public perception in O’Leary’s approach

Kevin claimed that political figures, including Trump, aim to stay connected with Musk because of his strategic influence. He noted that Trump wants to be close to the Tesla CEO and that the entire administration seeks to be involved in that "story."

He also mentioned recent developments that were overshadowed by the Musk-Trump discourse.

“The China story was big. I think the German Chancellor was there. And he got just wiped out by the tweets and the social media that was coming out of Trump,” O’Leary noted.

Still, he reiterated that investors must stay focused. The Shark Tank investor added.

“The noise is almost entertaining, but irrelevant if you're an investor...I actually think if you're Trump, you're saying, wait a second. This guy leads the free world in space. And I want to stay close to him.”

Shark Tank is available for streaming anytime on Hulu.
