In the June 10 episode of Love Island UK, Shakira was shown speaking with all the male islanders after her partner, Ben, was stolen by the season's first 'bombshell' (newcomer), Toni. She had 24 hours to spark a connection with the men and convince them to want to couple up with her, leaving their original partners single.
However, Shakira's efforts were unappreciated by the other female contestants. They felt threatened and disapproved of her advances toward their partners. However, Shakira persevered, knowing she had limited time to bond with someone new to avoid getting dumped from the villa.
Meg, Megan, Helena, Sophie, and Alima, who feared losing their partners and facing elimination, criticized Shakira's efforts during a private meeting.
"The problem is, thinking of what Maya said last night, I think it is in Shakira's court and that's why she's been grafting her f**king a** off today," Meg said.
Helena echoed a similar sentiment, pointing out that Shakira fancied everyone, including "the plants." Others admitted they felt "sick," unaware of what Shakira would do. Meanwhile, Shakira confided in Toni that "the vibes" from the ladies "felt so off," adding that "the energy" was isolating.
Love Island UK fans on X commented on the female islanders' attitude toward Shakira, saying she did not deserve the behavior.

"Tbh i didn’t like the way the girls treated Shakira that was nasty ugly behavior. Not Alima tho she was cool," a fan wrote.
"na these girls are being nasty to shakira, it’s the point of the show, they’d be doing the same if they were in that position, they’ve been in there a day," another fan commented.
"What did shakira do to the girls for them to act like this. She’s doing what they are supposed to be doing in the villa…" a netizen tweeted.
Many Love Island UK fans disapproved of the ladies' discussion about Shakira.
"WHYYY are these girls so icy towards Shakira? Did they expect her to just not pick anyone and leave the villa herself???? Like what???" a user reacted.
"The Shakira hate is so unwarranted....This set of girls this year are going to be a bunch of flimsy b**ches," a person commented.
"The girls being sly nasty towards shakira ain’t it as if they’re men are anything to rave home about," another fan wrote.
"I get the girls are worried about going home but I hate the energy they have at Shakira," one user posted.
Other Love Island UK fans expressed a similar sentiment.
"The girls acting shady towards Shakira makes me like her even more. That’s my official client !" a person reacted.
"They singled her out cause she was getting to know their “men” and now that she got a friend, they keeping tabs on everything she doing now. All I gotta say is that Shakira needs to stay. She seems to be drama," another netizen commented.
Love Island UK star Toni encourages Shakira to give herself a fair chance by chatting with all the male islanders
During a private conversation with Toni, Shakira mentioned that she felt singled out by the ladies, noting that their energy felt "off." However, she could not understand why they acted that way. Toni, however, reassured Shakira that she was on the right track and had a good chance of staying in the competition.
"You're not going anywhere. You know that. You know that, girl," she added.
The Love Island UK 'bombshell' pointed out that the male islanders were equally interested in Shakira, making the latter's job easier. However, Shakira remained apprehensive.
"I've been grafting, but I feel like the girls don't appreciate that, but equally, like, what's stopping them from doing the same thing? Like, we've all been here a day. Like, I think I have a right to get to know everybody, and so does everyone else," Shakira said.
Hearing that, Toni told Shakira that she was "outgoing," which she believed not everyone could be. While Shakira felt she rubbed people the wrong way, the newcomer then explained that, irrespective of how people felt, she was put in a position where she could "talk to whoever the f**k" she wanted to.
Shakira stated that they were all a threat to each other, but they singled her out as the threat.
At the recoupling ceremony, Harry (Sophie's partner), Blu (Alima's partner), and Conor (Helena's partner) stood up, expressing an interest in coupling up with Shakira. After much back and forth, Shakira chose Harry, ending Sophie's journey on Love Island UK.
