Top Chef season 21 aired a brand new episode on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. During the latest segment, titled, Supper Club, the cast started their days with a reality check by Kristen Kish and Buddha Lo about their performances in the previous challenge.

Soon after, they went shopping, but weren't sure what they were shopping for as part of the Quickfire Challenge. The chefs then competed in an elimination challenge and were divided into two teams.

Four contestants came under fire during the Judges' Table and ultimately, Charly Pierre had to pack up his knives and go.

Things get sauce-y in Top Chef season 21 episode 5

In the latest episode of Top Chef season 21, Kristen Kish told the contestants that they had $100 each to go shopping, but didn't tell them what for. While they knew that they were shopping for ingredients to use during the quickfire challenge, they didn't know what the challenge was.

Once the cast returned to the kitchen, the host informed them of their upcoming challenge and introduced them to three guest judges, W. Kamau Bell, Tory Miller, and Carson Gulley.

As part of their challenge, the Top Chef contestants had to make variations of sauces curated by Carson Gulley using the ingredients they purchased earlier. The winner of the challenge would get $7,500.

Michelle had to make a raisin sauce, while Danny had to make a cold horseradish sauce. Rasika had to make a Spanish sauce, Laura picked a herb sauce, Kevin was tasked with making a mushroom sauce, and Dan had to make a tarter sauce. Savannah picked a mustard sauce, Charly had to make creole sauce, Amanda picked egg sauce, and finally, Manny had to make a Figaro sauce. They had to each serve the sauces with a dish of their choice.

While Charly and Manny's dishes won hearts, Michelle, Amanda, and Kevin failed to impress. The winner of the quickfire challenge in Top Chef season 21 episode 5 was Charly.

Next up was an elimination challenge and the guest judges were Joe Papach and Shaina Papach. Joe Papach told the chefs that the Supper Club was one of Wisconsin's most loved traditions and turned ordinary meals into a social occasion. Saina added that as part of the club, the menu would be set as per the day of the week.

The elimination challenge in Top Chef's latest segment was a team challenge and the contestants were divided into the green and purple teams. They were tasked with coming up with a menu consisting of a relish tray, a fish dish, a chicken dish, a beef dish, and a dessert.

The chefs were given 30 minutes and $1,000 per team to shop for groceries. The following day, they had two hours to cook for 40 guests and the judges.

The Green team prepared pickled vegetables, black garlic tahini, labneh with Za'atar, smoked whitefish and frena bread created by Danny, epis-rubbed fried trout, coconut epis sauce, and preserved lemon pikliz by Charly, hot chicken katsu, Szechuan mala spice, apple miso mustard sauce with red cabbage and sauerkraut relish, which was made by Amanda.

Manny cooked an ancho-crusted New York strip loin, pommes puree and cilantro, epazote, and Marcona almond salsa verde, and Laura finished the service with a tres leches cake with brandy cherries and chocolate brandy cocktail.

The purple team's dishes included crudites in 'soil,' steak tartare, chicken liver mousse, pickled shallots, and fried seed toast served by Dan. Rashika made a semolina fried snapper, peanut and jaggery dip, and smoked sturgeon herb sauce.

Savannah cooked chicken tonkatsu, white sturgeon caviar emulsion and a sweet pickled cabbage. Kevin prepared a beef tenderloin with sherry jus and confit potatoes followed by Michelle's dessert which was a coconut bread pudding with pineapple cream sauce.

The purple team won the elimination challenge in Top Chef season 21's latest episode with Dan producing the winning dish. While four contestants failed to impress with their dishes, Charly's overcooked dish sent him packing.
