Spanish influencer Marta Hermoso was arrested by the National Police alongside three others for allegedly robbing £400,000 in jewelry and money from a Mexican businessman named Enrique Abascal at a luxury hotel in Madrid in September 2024. While the arrests took place late last year, the police confirmed it earlier this month, following which it became viral on April 17, 2025.
According to Mundo America (published April 22), the robbery occurred inside a room of the Wellington Hotel on Velázquez Street, in central Madrid. Following the incident, the Judicial Police group from the Salamanca district opened an investigation and later took Marta Hermoso and three others into custody, late last year.
However, all of them were released pending charges of robbery with force while awaiting more concrete evidence. Meanwhile, Marta Hermoso, who’s a 35-year-old content creator from Seville, Spain, denied any involvement in the crime and told the authorities she had no connection to the events.
Reportedly, surveillance footage from the hotel identified her, hinting at her alleged involvement in the robbery. In the wake of this, Marta Hermoso deleted all her social media accounts.

More about Marta Hermoso’s alleged involvement in the 2024 robbery
According to Mundo America, the victim, Enrique Abascal, arrived in Madrid on September 25, 2024. Three days later, he left his room around 9:30 am, and when he returned in the afternoon, he saw the door was forced open and the room was ransacked.
The safe was taken off the closet table and was missing. It contained three limited edition watches, a Patek Philippe, and two Audemars Piguet, priced at £360,000; multiple bracelets worth £6,700; cash amounting to £5,000; and other personal items including a suitcase and a toiletry bag.
According to the hotel security cameras verified by the National Police, on the night of September 28, 2024, Marta Hermoso accompanied Enrique Abascal to his room 423.
According to other suspects, they claimed that she was the one who allegedly orchestrated the robbery, although she didn’t actively participate in it. Three individuals, namely Daniel, Isaac C., and Juan Ramon J., seemingly aided her in the crime.
They were seen leaving Abascal’s room with his gray suitcase, reportedly carrying the stolen items as well as a backpack allegedly containing tools to help with the job.

According to Daniel, Marta Hermoso allegedly planned to take the 43-year-old businessman out for lunch while he and his men would carry out the robbery. Daniel further noted that it was Marta Hermoso who reportedly granted them entry into Enrique’s room, following which they emptied the safe.
He claimed to have initially rejected the influencer’s plan and identified her from the surveillance footage. Meanwhile, Marta Hermoso told police she was only in Abascal’s room for ten minutes the night before the burglary to help him get his shoes changed.
She also claimed not to know the room number, safe combination, or its contents. However, authorities believe they have enough to allegedly link her to the crime.
Marta Hermoso’s lawyer, Juango Ospina Abogados, told 20 minutes that his client was misidentified and denied involvement in the heist, adding she didn’t know “any of the three people who apparently participated in the robbery.” Abogados added the facts would be “proven” once legal action was taken for “possible perjury or procedural fraud."
"We absolutely trust in our client's innocence. There are third parties whose involvement we will investigate. We do not rule out a possible ulterior motive in this criminal proceeding. We will investigate to the end. We trust in justice," Ospina stated.
The attorney added, “Our defense will request the opening of a reasoned investigation into the possible involvement of a third woman seen in the hotel images in the company of the assailants.”

Abogados also claimed his client “has never acted as a companion,” nor has she “exchanged money or any financial compensation with the complainant or any third party in exchange for s*xual gestures.” He warned of legal action against defamation.
According to trendensias.com, Enrique Abascal is the CEO of SIVSA, an information technology service provider that operates across Spain, Portugal, Chile, Brazil, Peru, and Morocco. Earlier, the Mexican businessman was the Sales Director of World Investment News.
