The Las Vegas Aces vs Indiana Fever faced each other in Game 4 of their WNBA semifinal playoff series in Indianapolis on Sunday. With their backs pressed against the wall, the Fever attacked the Aces' defense from the get-go, opening their scoring with an Aliyah Boston bucket, but they got a quick reply from A'ja Wilson.
However, the Fever quickly elevated their game behind Kelsey Mitchell and Boston's elite presence on the offense, taking a three-point lead that eventually extended to 20-16 in the last minutes. Although Wilson's first-quarter explosion kept the Aces in the game, the quarter ended with the Fever leading 23-21.
Las Vegas took a 36-35 lead on Wilson's score with 3:55 before halftime. However, the Fever outscored the Aces 11-2 to take a 46-38 halftime lead. Both Kelsey Mitchell and Shey Peddy remained the stars of the second quarter. Peddy scored seven points. Mitchell led the Fever with 15 points. A'ja Wilson led the Aces with 12 points.
The third quarter saw both A'ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston unlock their offense. Boston scored 13 of the Fever's 21 points in the quarter. On the other hand, Wilson scored 10 of the Aces' 24 points. The Fever ended the quarter with a 67-63 lead.
The fourth quarter saw a neck-to-neck fight between the teams. While the Aces tried to cut the lead, the Fever kept answering to maintain the lead. Both Boston and Odyssy Sims stood out for the Fever in the last quarter.
With 36 seconds remaining in the game, Lexie Hull almost sealed the game for the Fever. After being fouled by Jackie Young, Hull made two free throws to extend Indiana's lead to seven points.
Things got worse for the Aces when they received a technical foul for an excessive timeout. Kelsey Mitchell made the technical foul free throw; on top of that, the Aces lost possession. It was followed by two free throws made by Sims after being fouled by Chelsea Gray. The Fever won 90-83.
Kelsey Mitchell and Boston led the Fever with 25 and 24 points, respectively. Sims also added 18 points. A'ja Wilson's 31 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three blocks weren't enough to lift the Aces.
