10 most controversial things we learned from Total Divas

Total Divas premiered on the E! Network back in 2013 and it seems that the WWE Women's Division hasn't been the same since.

The show has made the women of WWE stars all over the world. but more surprisingly. it has opened the doors of WWE to many fans who would not have watched wrestling before they had seen the reality show.

18 WWE women have appeared in the show since it began four years ago and it returns next month with its seventh season.

The WWE Universe has learnt a number of controversial things from the past six seasons of the show, and here are some of the most shocking revelations from the popular series.

#10 Paige was once pregnant

Rosa Mendes was added to the cast of Total Divas back in the third season and whilst she has had her own fair share of controversial moments, it was back in season five when Rosa was throwing a baby shower that Paige was forced to reveal a secret that she had harboured for a number of years.

Paige was quite distant with Rosa when it came to planning and attending her baby shower but she did turn up late to the event and was still slightly distant. This led to her confessing that she was pregnant when she was 18 years old and ended up losing the baby.

Paige revealed that due to medical problems surrounding her pregnancy, she was unsure as to whether or not she would be able to have children in the future. And watching one of her best friends make a family for herself obviously made her emotional.

#9 Nikki Bella was married for three years and kept it a secret

Nikki Bella spent the first season and a half complaining about wanting John Cena to ask her to marry her before she revealed in season two that she had been married before.

It wasn't that much of a shock that Nikki had been married before, but it was the fact that she was married for three years and that her family didn't know about it.

Nikki, Brie, JJ and their mother Cathy are all said to be quite close, so how did Nikki manage to elope and marry her high school sweetheart without any of her family finding out?

Obviously, the marriage was annulled after three years when the couple realised they were too young for such a commitment, but a three-year secret marriage was perhaps one of the most shocking things The Bellas shared with the WWE Universe as part of the show.

#8 Dolph Ziggler is still in love with Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella and John Cena's five-year relationship hasn't been without its fair share of issues, one of these was back when Nikki was thinking about freezing her eggs so that she could have children in the future if her relationship with Cena didn't work out.

Dolph Ziggler and Nikki dated for a while before she moved on to Cena and he approached her in the same episode and told her that he would give her marriage and children because he knew Cena wouldn't.

Nikki refused Dolph's advances and went on to tell Cena about the awkward interaction. But perhaps the most shocking part of the entire episode was the fact that Cena was nonchalant about it and told Nikki that she could actually go back to Dolph if that was what she wanted.

#7 John Cena and the 75-page cohabitation agreement

The WWE Universe didn't know a lot about John Cena and Nikki Bella's relationship until they decided to open the doors and allow the Total Divas cameras inside.

It seems that their relationship is far from perfect. As part of the first season of the show when Nikki was about to move in with her boyfriend, he gave her a 75-page cohabitation agreement to sign before she was allowed to live with him.

Cena stated that this was because his first wife Elizabeth caused him a lot of problems when it came to her obsession with home improvements and this contract was just to ensure that he was never in that situation again.

That being said, this caused a lot of backlash on social media from fans who didn't understand why any man would expect the woman that he loves to sign such a thing.

Nikki signed the agreement and seemingly has managed live in Cena's house over the past four years whilst adhering to all the rules, so it can't have been that bad.

#6 Rosa Mendes was once in rehab

Rosa Mendes retired from WWE earlier this year on her daughter's first birthday back in February. Before her retirement, she had been part of Total Divas for a number of years and decided to reveal why she had taken so much time away from WWE.

Rosa was never really considered to be a credible female wrestler and has perhaps one of the worst win/loss records of any female wrestler in the history of WWE. But it seems that one thing that may have gone against Rosa was the fact that she was forced to take time away from WWE a few years ago to attend rehab.

Rosa obviously managed to get her act together and return to the company after her stint in rehab and later tweeted that it was a hard thing for her to get off her chest, but she was glad that she had the support that she needed at the time.

#5 The truth behind Maryse and The Bella's real-life problems

There were a lot of rumours circulating for a number of years surrounding The Bella Twins and Maryse, since it was thought that Nikki and Brie were the reason why Maryse didn't return to the WWE much sooner.

Unsurprisingly, this was something that WWE wanted to cover on the first episode of Total Divas that Maryse appeared on.

Maryse revealed that all the stories were true and that The Bella Twins had cost her a job with WWE a few years ago, which didn't make the twins look great in the eyes of the WWE Universe.

Luckily, it seems that all three women have been able to put their problems aside since Maryse and Nikki were part of a lengthy storyline leading into WrestleMania earlier this year.

#4 Eva Marie has quite a dark past

Eva Marie won the 2013 Diva Search for a right to be part of the first season of the show, along with JoJo Offerman. But it seems that whilst Total Divas was the show that kick-started Eva's career, it could also have been her biggest downfall.

Eva revealed many things about her personal life on the show including her father's battle with cancer, and the fact that she had undergone breast argumentation surgery.

She was also never seen with alcohol in the show, which she later revealed was because she was an alcoholic when she was younger.

This was something Eva managed to overcome before she joined WWE, but it means that she now has to stay away from it, which came as a shock to many of the other women. It was something that Eva was able to do throughout the six seasons of the show, but shockingly, didn't help the WWE Universe to warm to her in a way that WWE hoped that they would.

#3 John Cena reveals an embarrassing WWE moment

Despite not actually being a WWE Diva, John Cena has still played a key role in Total Divas since the very beginning. And it was in season one that the 16-time World Champion actually revealed quite an embarrassing secret.

When Natalya took a shot to the stomach in a match against Naomi and accidentally urinated a little bit, Nikki Bella found out and decided to tell everyone backstage, even finding her boyfriend John Cena and trying to turn the whole thing into a joke.

Cena remained level-headed about the situation and told Nikki that he once had a match with food poisoning and nature took its course and obviously caused him a few problems. Nikki realised that it wasn't all that funny, but the WWE Universe found out that John Cena once had an accident in the ring, which was a pretty shocking revelation.

Paige and Rosa Mendes both joined the cast of Total Divas for Season three back in 2014. The two women were already known to be quite good friends, but it seems that their friendship was much deeper than that.

Rosa revealed in one episode that she was really attracted to Paige and that she did think of her as more than a friend.

Paige was already known to be bisexual, so Rosa decided to take a chance and kissed Paige later in the same episode. But Paige obviously didn't feel the same way as the retired WWE star.

Luckily, the duo were able to remain friends and Rosa has since moved on to a new relationship and became a mother for the first time back in 2016 when she gave birth to her daughter Jordan. So it seems to have turned out quite well for Rosa despite the rejection!

WWE decided to cash in on the term "Brie Mode" back in 2014 as part of Brie's feud with both Stephanie McMahon and Nikki Bella. But it seems that in a PG era for the company, this probably wasn't the best thing to promote.

Brie revealed in an episode of Total Divas back in 2013 that "Brie Mode" was when she gets incredibly drunk and does some questionable things.

Nikki enjoyed getting her sister into these kinds of situations, but it seems that her husband Daniel Bryan wasn't a fan of his wife's drunken antics.

So when WWE allowed Brie to perform on WWE TV wearing "Brie Mode" themed clothing, they were actually promoting the fact that Brie likes to get drunk and do stupid things, some of which the company shouldn't be condoning.
