Bayley vs Sasha Banks on WWE NXT
Bayley had earned a title shot by defeating fellow horsewoman Becky Lynch, which led to this bout at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, a match which is widely regarded as one of the best NXT has to offer. After a bitter bout lasting eighteen minutes, Bayley was crowned as the new NXT Women’s Champion, with the horsewomen coming together post-match to take an emotional curtain call. Bayley later proved that her win wasn’t a one-off, retaining her title after an equally brilliant Iron Man match weeks later, which is still the only match of its kind in WWE NXT history.
First-ever Women’s Royal Rumble
The first-ever WWE Royal Rumble took place in 1988. It took until 2018 for women to have their own Royal Rumble match, and between that happening, a handful of women managed to enter the men’s match – Chyna (twice), Beth Phoenix, and Kharma. In 2018 the women’s roster was finally meaty enough, and was taken a bit more seriously in order for a women’s rumble to happen. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch entered the first-ever WWE women’s Rumble at one and two; a huge responsibility that they shone in, with Becky getting to eliminate her childhood hero Lita and Sasha lasting an impressive 54 minutes.
