10 Reasons Finn Balor deserves to be Universal Champion

Finn Balor has already been the Universal champion, but of late his momentum seems to have stalled.

There are numerous theories as to why this is the case. Some wrestling scholars believe the WWE's main event picture on Raw is a crowded place, with such luminaries as John Cena, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns all jostling for the top spots on the card.

In such a busy workplace, they feel Finn may just have to wait his turn.

Others believe that Finn is being held back by management. Unproven speculation indicates that WWE chairman Vince McMahon is not sold on Finn Balor, and doesn't want him as the top guy in the company.

There are a few more who believe that Finn truly is not worthy of being the man to represent the Raw brand.

Whatever the reason for Finn's recent inability to escape the mid-card, here are ten reasons he deserves to defeat Lesnar and win the WWE Universal title.

#10 He never lost the belt

Relinquishing the title broke many hearts

Soon after Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins to become the Universal champion, he suffered a non-storyline injury and was put on the shelf.

Finn had to relinquish the belt, but no one has pinned him for it. He deserves a chance to win back the title he was forced to give up through no fault of his own.

#9 His experience counts

Finn Balor and Becky Lynch, the early years

Finn is a veteran, having wrestled for over seventeen years. He began his career in the UK's Hammerlock promotion at the tender age of eighteen.

From there, he went on to Japan, where he dominated the junior heavyweight scene for much of the 2000s.

Inching up on Ring General status--a coveted title reserved for those who have wrestled for twenty years or more--Balor is more than experienced enough to carry the Raw brand on his chiselled shoulders.

#8 Physique

Frankly, Finn Balor is built like a greek god. He looks as if Michelangelo chiselled him out of granite. Finn's top-tier fitness regime keeps him in better shape than men ten years younger.

There's no question he has a marketable look, just based on this alone. He looks like someone who is truly trained for a combat sport.

#7 Ability to wrestle anyone, in any type of match

Finn is an accomplished tag wrestler as well.

A true international star, Finn has wrestled all over the world for multiple promotions. During this time, he has honed his skills to the highest level.

In Japan, you'd better bring stiff strikes to your game, and Balor can do that. In Mexico, a wrestler needs to be able to fly, and he can do that, too.

In the UK, a wrestler will be ridiculed if he doesn't have a sound technical game, and Finn is one of the best in this regard.

#6 He's a born leader

Though now the Young Bucks seem to dominate the Bullet Club and make the decisions on how the faction moves forward, Finn Balor was once their top player.

You can see here that, even surrounded by larger men, Balor just seems to stand out. His natural charisma will aid him greatly as champion.

WWE expects its champions to be leaders in both the ring and the locker room, and Finn already has the respect of his peers.

#5 He was the first Universal champion

When WWE decided to split itself into two brands--again--Finn was their first ever Universal champion.

The fact that his reign ended in so ignobly a fashion not only hurts Finn Balor, it hurts the Universal Championship as well.

Finn deserves a good, long reign, and this will increase the legitimacy of the championship as well.

#4 He was the longest reigning NXT champion

Finn's reign as NXT champion was a wonder, seeing him fight off one powerful rival after another in fantastic matches.

There is no question that Finn carried NXT on his back and elevated the promotion to the point where many consider it superior to the 'main' brands of Raw and Smackdown. His historic reign of nearly three hundred days has yet to be matched in NXT.

He could re-create this magic with a lengthy Universal title reign.

#3 Charisma--no matter what the 'smart' fans say on social media.

Finn Balor is over with the crowd. When Bray Wyatt was ill, he and AJ Styles stole the show at TLC.

The ability to get an entire arena to stand on their feet and applaud appreciatively is no mean feat. Very few athletes have this much pull just because of their sheer persona, and Finn definitely has the chops to be a compelling Universal champion.

#2 The Coup de Grace

The Coup de Grace is one of the most spectacular and most dangerous moves in all of professional wrestling. It's not an easy move to perform without causing serious injury to your opponent, so many wrestlers refuse to take the hit.

Finn is so skilled he can perform this move without fear of causing a legit injury to other wrestlers. His spectacular agility and strength enable him to pull off this most difficult of finishers.

#1 The Demon King

Balor's ace

Should Finn Balor's stiff kicks, high flying moves, or technical acumen fail him, he still has one ace up his sleeve.

The Demon King.

An Undertaker-esque persona, The Demon King is Finn's alter ego, a monster with no fear and less remorse. The Demon King has one of the most compelling entrances in pro wrestling as well.
