How long has it been since WWE has focused on the United States title? Also, how often does the belt even get airtime anymore on Smackdown Live? Unfortunately for fans of the red white and blue belt, the answers to those questions is a long time and not very often, which have chipped away at the belts prestige.

Believe it or not, it used to be one of the biggest titles in the entire company, especially during John Cena's open challenges, but it has since fallen into irrelevancy due to several bad booking decisions over the years. Beyond that, the WWE doesn't really give The United States title picture that much television time anymore, which only makes things worse.
If nothing else, the United States title deserves a much bigger program than what it currently has and WWE would probably be smart to put the title on an established veteran for a while. That way, WWE can go back to the open challenge format they did with John Cena and eventually build someone up to dethrone the champion.
