The Hugger, Bayley, making her way to the ring.

Nothing about this match worked.

The first problem with this match was the fact that WWE was trying to build up Bayley as the future of The Women's division. While this idea worked like a charm back in NXT, where Bayley's Hugger gimmick was beloved by the smaller crowds, it became kind of corny once she reached the main roster.

Another problem with the match was the fact that Bayley had already been Charlotte's undefeated pay per view streak a month earlier to win The Women's championship for the first time in her career, which meant that WWE wouldn't be able to go with their same cut and paste underdog story at WrestleMania.

In the end, Bayley probably should have lost the title to Nia Jax or Sasha Banks, which would have been a much better outcome then to watch one of the most one-dimensional wrestlers in years retain the title. Not only that, the outcome was utterly predictable and was quickly swept under the rug the next month when Alexa Bliss beat Bayley for the title.
