10 "Fake" wrestlers who are tougher than you

UFC 200: Tate v Nunes
UFC 200: Tate v Nunes

Pro Wrestling is fake, right? The athletes, while impressive, are trained to avoid injury to themselves and others. They couldn't possibly win a REAL fight... right?

Wrong! Here are a few 'Rasslers who you'd definitely want to give up your bar stool for.

#1 Jerome Young

New
New Jack, ECW

Jerome Young, better known as New Jack to hardcore wrestling fans, has always thrilled the audience with his death-defying 'bumps' and take no prisoners attitude. However, it's not all just a show as New Jack is a former bounty hunter with four Justifiable Homicides to his credit.

Also, the jury is still out on whether or not his near-homicide of fellow grappler Vic Grimes was intentional or not. You can be the judge yourself by watching the vid below:

Violent, hair-triggered, and with real street cred, you wouldn't want to get into a knuckle duster with this New Jack hustler!

#2 Bart Gunn

Bart Gunn lays Dr. Death Steve Williams out

Bart Gunn, one-half of the rather ridiculously named "Smoking Guns," was a 'rasslin cowboy' who also went by the ring name Bodacious Bart. Not exactly a name that inspires fear.

You SHOULD be afraid of running into Bart Gunn in a dark alley, however, because this big man has a golden left. A former Tough Man champion, Bart struggled to work his way up the card in the WWE until a little tournament called the Brawl for it All.

WWE talent director Jim Ross thought up the brawl as a way to get Dr. Death Steve Williams, his good friend, a leg up on his debut in the federation. Ross's mistake was making the tournament 'shoot', or legitimate fights, and just assuming Dr. Death would win.

Bart Gunn brought those plans to a crashing halt by 'KO'ing Williams during the tournament. You can check out the fight highlights herel

Unfortunately, Bart himself came to a screeching halt when he was KO'd by the King of the Four Rounders, Butterbean. Still, if Bart Gunn asks you to step outside for a minute, tell him no thanks!

#3 Mark Curtis

WCW referee Mark Curts, RIP
WCW referee Mark Curts, RIP

Mark Curtis was a referee in WCW during that promotion's final years. Sadly, he passed away in September of 1999 due to cancer, and his ashes were scattered in the opening pyros of WCW Monday Nitro.

While seemingly mild-mannered and not all that threatening, Mark Curtis was known for his quick reactions when a foolish mark tried to enter the ring during a match. Seeking to protect the athletes from an individual with unknown, possibly violent intentions, Mark did what he thought best - he kicked the fan in the head and choked him out!

So let this be a lesson to you, sports fans... dynamite comes in small packages!

#4 Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrock
Ken Shamrock

This entry is a bit of a cheat since Ken Shamrock was already well known for his combat prowess in the UFC.

However, no one expected Ken to be so damn good at 'Rasslin, so he makes this list for sort of the opposite reasons as the rest of the athletes. Capable of executing a sweet Huracanrana and willing to take brutal chair shots from none other than Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, Shamrock proved his toughness in multiple arenas.

#5 Arn Anderson

The Enforcer
The Enforcer

A highly decorated, well-respected wrestler from the great state of Minnesota, Arn Anderson is recognised as the most talented 'Rassler to never hold a major singles title. Though forced into retirement in 1998 due to a lingering neck injury, "The Enforcer" is still spoken of in hushed whispers by wrestling fans.

Arn makes it onto this list because of a confrontation overseas with fellow wrestler Sid Vicious. In the midst of a roid rage, Sid attacked the much smaller Arn with a pair of scissors. Just to break it down, Vicious stands nearly seven feet tall and three hundred pounds; Arn is six foot one and maybe seventy pounds lighter.

Though Arn was stabbed over twenty times in the attack, he was able to disarm his assailant and then gave much worse than he got, leaving the giant man with a punctured lung and a reputation that would never recover.

If Arn tells you to leave, listen to the man!

#6 Tonga Fifita

Meng/Haku
Meng/Haku

Tonga Fifita, better known to wrestling fans as Haku or Meng, is part of a legendary dynasty of "Island Boy" wrestlers that includes The Rock and current WWE superstar Nia Jax.

Whether he was dominating the tag ranks as one of the Colossal Connection with Andre the Giant, or showing up on Raw while still the WCW Hardcore champion, Tonga built a legacy both in and out of the ring.

It was once said that Haku was the ONLY wrestler Andre the Giant feared. Legends told in the locker room attribute many herculean feats to Tonga, such as biting a man's nose off in a bar fight and taking on a dozen US Marines and walking away without a scratch.

When asked who the toughest professional wrestler in the world was, Hulk Hogan responded with an enthusiastic "Meng, brother!"

Go ahead, laugh at his afro. I DARE you.

#7 Chyna

Chyna as WWE IC Champion
Chyna as WWE IC Champion

Joanie Laurer, better known to 'Rasslin fans around the world as Chyna, is sadly no longer with us, but her legend will last forever.

Capable of bench pressing 315 lbs, and possessing athletic ability rare in both men and women, Chyna holds the distinction of being the only female to ever hold WWE's prestigious Intercontinental Championship.

Even when in the original D-Generation X stable with Shawn Michaels and then-boyfriend Triple H, Chyna was easily the most distinctive and intimidating presence. Sadly, she was forced out of the company after her boyfriend had an affair with the boss's daughter, Stephanie McMahon, so we never got to see her true potential realised.

Main eventing Wrestlemania? Maybe she could have. We'll never know.

What we do know is that if you'd have bumped into Ms. Laurer, you'd better have apologised and quickly, or your spine would need realignment.

#8 Johnny B. Badd

Johnny B. Badd, aka Marc Mero
Johnny B. Badd, aka Marc Mero

Johnny B. Badd, or Marvelous Mac Mero, may not look like someone you'd want to be afraid of. From his feathered boas, to his mascara, and Little Richard-esque mannerisms, everything about Mero seemed bright and effeminate.

The thing to remember about Mr. Badd, however, is that he is a former NY State Golden Gloves champion. Trained by the legendary Raymond Rinaldi, Badd was well on his way to a lucrative career as a pro boxer when his nose was badly broken.

After being told by medical staff that it would be risky to continue as a pugilist, Badd began his 'Rasslin career in 1990. He had a long undefeated streak and a successful reign as the Television Champion, one of the most hotly contested titles of the late 80s/early 90s.

Though he met with less success in WWE -- often falling into his wife Sable's shadow -- he will always be remembered as one of 'Rasslin's legitimate 'tough guys.' Now an inspirational speaker, Badd is still capable of dishing out his finishing move, the Tutti Frutti -- a vicious hook punch -- so you'd better not give him grief.

#9 CM Punk

CM Punk
CM Punk

Dishonorable Mention: CM Punk

Before we reach number one on our list, let's take a moment to 'appreciate' a 'Rassler who seems a lot tougher than he actually is.

Born Phillip Jack Boots - -seriously, that's a better ring name than CM Punk -- the mouthy, tattooed wrestler from the Windy City was first billed as being a master of both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jujitsu.

Unfortunately, Punk has never been in a Muay Thai ring and is referred to as a BJJ 'hobbyist.' Though Punk is quite a skilled performer in a wrestling ring, his abilities don't translate very well outside of the squared circle, as we saw when he was systematically destroyed by journeyman MMA fighter Mickey Gall.

#1 Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar

And now for the best, the most powerfully dominant athlete to EVER step foot into the squared circle, Brock Lesnar. Standing over six feet tall and STRUGGLING to get down to the UFC's 265lb weight limit, he's already someone you don't want to mess with.

But wait, there's more!

Not only is he an All American amateur wrestler, Lesnar is also one of the most naturally gifted athletes ever to walk the face of the Earth. His power is obvious, but many opponents --such as the legendary Randy Couture -- have been taken aback by his unbelievable speed and agility.

So how tough is Lesnar? He once fell fifteen feet through the air and landed on his HEAD... and not only did he not die, he went on to finish the match!

Though Diverticulitis seems to have made the monster more of a man in recent years, there's still no question Brock Lesnar is the baddest 'Rassler of them all.

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
