10 WWE Friendships That Rose Through the Ranks Together

The Kliq has been through the ringer

In the pro wrestling world, friends are few and far in between. Real, genuine friendships are said to be rare in the business given that pro wrestling is a cutthroat environment. It is always a great thing to see talent getting along and having a close bond through it all.

Many times in interviews, etc. you read and hear that sometimes these friendships are often referred to as marriages (i.e Road Wife) because of all the time talent spends traveling and working together. If you and your buddy make it through pro wrestling together, then hats off to you!

So what are some of these friendships that have stood the test of pushes and drama?

#10 The Four Horsewomen

These ladies’ careers continue to intertwine on the main roster

I included these women in here because they are making some serious impact over the course of two years in women’s wrestling. Even though Bayley is still waiting on her call up, it is evident that these women share a close bond outside the ring.

For example, many fans noted the genuine happiness Sasha Banks expressed as Bayley came out to the ring at Battleground. People don’t fake that kind of reaction. Then, Bayley returned the favor as WWE filmed Banks calling Bayley through Facetime after she won the WWE Women’s Championship.

#9 Road Dogg and Billy Gunn

James and Gunn would team up at other promotions

As one of the Attitude Era’s most popular tag teams, these two men have been through some times together. They were massively successful as the New Age Outlaws in WWE. After WWE, the friends would team together in other promotions, notably TNA.

The chemistry they share is fun to see, as they know each other inside and out.

#8 Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero

The best friends have told great stories during their time in WWE

Mysterio and Guerrero worked together for years from WCW to WWE. They just finished an emotional and personal feud together when Guerrero died in his hotel room in 2005. Mysterio was devastated, and wore “EG” armbands to pay tribute to his fallen friend.

When he won the Royal Rumble, tand went on to win the WWE Championship in 2006, he dedicated his win to Guerrero. The night before that, Mysterio had a hand in inducting Guerrero into the WWE Hall of Fame.

#7 John Cena and Randy Orton

Their friendship remained in tact as they carried WWE for several years

These two crossed paths in OVW, and were called up to the main roster the same time, from the same OVW class. Both men would feud with each other through the years as they rose to top guy status in the Ruthless Aggression and PG eras.

Their friendship is evident through interviews and pictures on the Internet.

#6 Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

The bromance is real with these former Shield partners

Opposites attract and this is a perfect example. Reigns is the quiet type while Ambrose is the wild child. If you have seen Ride Along, you can see how this is exemplified. The two men would work together from FCW to NXT, and then debuted together along with Seth Rollins as The Shield.

They went through it all during the course of the faction and WWE played on their friendship since The Shield split up. Even in their battles against each other, it is almost as if it is an understated motive as they two battle it out.

But when the match is over, the two men almost always seem to congratulate whoever the winner is, and they have no shame in displaying their bromance for the world to see.

#5 Ron Simmons and JBL

APA bonded through dominating the Tag Team scene in the Attitude Era

Both men were another popular tag team in the Attitude Era as The APA, dominating everyone in their path. After the team split up and they went their separate ways, the men kept in contact and always teamed up in reunions if WWE called for it.

Simmons was the best man at JBL’s wedding, while JBL would induct Simmons into the WWE Hall of Fame. The two inducted the Godfather in the WWE Hall of Fame together, who is one of their good friends also.

#4 Edge and Christian

These two literally started together from the bottom

This friendship has lasted since the men were children. They not only grew up together, but started out in the Independent scene together all the way to WWE. Edge and Christian would make history together as one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history.

Christian has inducted Edge into the WWE Hall of Fame.

To this day, they have done a WWE Network show together, and it is evident the men are close and that their friendship isn’t breaking up anytime soon.

#3 Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

The hottest WWE feud right now is extremely personal

The best element for their personal, hot feud going on right now is how the WWE heavily plays on the men’s fourteen year plus friendship.

The most personal feuds are sometimes the best feuds, and this is no exception. They are known for their battles in the Independent scene, and they picked up where they left off right in NXT when Zayn captured the NXT Championship.

The men have been there for each other during their biggest moments in life, and that’s a big thing.

#2 Trish Stratus and Lita

Trish and Lita are friendship goals

Another example of great personal feuds would be these two women. They dominated the WWE Women’s Division during the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression era together, feuding with each other throughout and even switching the roles.

Stratus included Lita in her Hall of Fame speech during her induction, and has even inducted Lita into the WWE Hall of Fame. The two even did a “Team Bestie” tour together; a series of meet and greet sessions for fans.

If that wasn’t enough, Lita is the godmother to Stratus’ son.

#1 Shawn Michaels and Triple H

Perhaps the most popular friendship in WWE

The most famous friendship in WWE would be Michaels and Triple H.

They were key members in The Kliq, which were a controversial backstage group in the 1990s. The friendship between these two and the other Kliq members remains strong as ever today. They are so popular that WWE has released a DVD of their friendship.

This friendship survived the backstage politics and drama of the Monday Night Wars. Triple H would induct Michaels into the WWE Hall of Fame.
