#2 Failed: Bobby Lashley

During Roman Reigns’ 2018 rivalry with Brock Lesnar, he was forced to face Bobby Lashley in the build-up to SummerSlam to earn another Universal Championship match against “The Beast”.

Lashley emerged with the victory in their match at Extreme Rules 2018, but Reigns ultimately won the feud, setting up another encounter with Lesnar in the process, after defeating “The All Mighty” in a #1 contender match on Raw.

As is often the case when two rivals are preparing for a high-profile match, Reigns and Lashley had to form an unusual alliance in June and July 2018 to face The Revival in three consecutive weeks.

They were able to defeat Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder on two occasions, but the most memorable match between the two teams came on the June 25 episode of Raw when Wilder pinned Reigns, who had a series of miscommunications with Lashley, to pick up an unexpected win for The Revival.
