Buddy Murphy finally gets his opportunity at the Cruiserweight Title

A video recap played of the Hideo Itami - Akira Tozawa match from the week prior, in which Itami defeated his former tag team partner.

Mustafa Ali and Tony Nese were interviewed about the Cruiserweight Title match, with Ali choosing Cedric Alexander and Tony Nese picking Buddy Murphy. Drake Maverick was interviewed about the match as well, also taking time to say that TJP should stop complaining on social media and prove himself in the ring. The 205 Live GM said that he'll back whoever wins as the champion.

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Buddy Murphy vs Cedric Alexander (c)

As Buddy Murphy made his way to the ring, the announce team stated that Murphy is no longer the "Best Kept Secret," but a complete Juggernaut that has overrun the cruiserweight division. Cedric Alexander came out next, taking time to interact with the crowd. Cedric got a big reaction from the hometown crowd during the introductions.

Murphy began the match attempting to overpower Cedric, and both men used their speed to move in and out of each other's wrist locks before trading pins. Cedric's kip up after kicking out at one got under Murphy's skin. The two attempted to toss each other around with hurricanranas and head scissors, but both men landed on their feet.

Cedric finally got the better of Murphy, catching him with a head scissors, forcing him outside. However, as he bounced off the ropes to land back on his feet, Murphy met him in the middle of the ring. Cedric caught him with a dropkick, which caused Murphy to drive him into the corner, roughing him up with some elbows and clotheslines. However, Cedric forced him to the outside, knocking him off the apron with a stiff kick followed by a suicide dive.

Cedric stood atop the announcer's desk as Murphy struggled to get to his feet. A "Let's go Cedric" chant broke out before Murphy tripped Cedric, causing the champion to land on the table. Murphy then took advantage, slamming Cedric on the apron and throwing him into the barricade before tossing him back inside. The Juggernaut kicked Cedric repeatedly in the back, getting a two-count out of a pin attempt.

Murphy threw Cedric into the turnbuckle before landing another stiff kick on the lower back of Cedric Alexander. Murphy focused on that point throughout the match, slowing down the pace of the match while punishing the champion. Murphy repeatedly punted Cedric's back before putting him in a chin lock, keeping his knees on Cedric's back.

Cedric attempted to escape, only for Murphy to go to the back again with multiple elbow strikes. Cedric answered back with an elbow followed by a running uppercut, followed by a spinning back kick. Murphy made his way to the corner only for Cedric to hit him with a shoulder thrust/enziguri combo. Cedric went for a springboard mood, only to be caught with a calf kick by Murphy. Murphy worked over Cedric's back again, hitting a double knee to his back in the corner. However, when going for it a second time, the Cruiserweight Champion hit Murphy with a superkick, as both men fell to the mat.

As they both made it back to their feet, they traded shots. However, Cedric caught Murphy's boot before hitting him with a spinning back elbow. Murphy attempted to hold Cedric's tights, who broke his grip and kicked him in the side of the head, forcing him to the outside. He followed that up with a somersault plancha over the ropes, taking out Murphy. Murphy was rolled into the ring, where he was hit by a springboard clothesline, kicking out at two.

Murphy caught Cedric going for the springboard flatliner, kicking him in the jaw and forcing him to the outside before hitting a somersault plancha of his own. Murphy went for a dive from the top, Cedric avoided it, hitting him with a Michinoku Driver. Murphy kicked out yet again. Cedric went for the Lumbar Check, but his back was too injured. He went for it again, but Murphy rolled through, kicking Cedric followed by a running suplex, further damaging the spine of Cedric Alexander.

Cedric went to the apron, and Murphy attempted to suplex him on it. Cedric fought it off, connecting with a kick to his head, followed by a springboard flatliner onto the apron. Both men were down on the ground outside and barely made it back into the ring at ten. Murphy and Cedric traded shots, and Cedric went for the Neuralizer, but Murphy countered it into a DDT, garnering only a two-count.

Cedric pulled himself to the corner, with Murphy heading to the opposite turnbuckle. Both men worked their way to their feet, going after each other with striking combinations. The two men countered each other's strikes tit-for-tat before Murphy finally landed a heavy kick to the back of Cedric's head. Still, the champion kicked out. A "This is Awesome" chant rang out in the arena as Murphy went for Murphy's Law. Cedric countered it into a pinning attempt, only getting a two count. Murphy turned it into a powerbomb, with Cedric kicking out before Murphy forced him back to the ground with a knee to the jaw.

Murphy threw Cedric into the ropes, only to be hit by a Neuralizer. Cedric hit a second Neuralizer before landing the Lumbar Check. After a long and hard-fought war, Cedric Alexander retained the Cruiserweight Championship.
