3 biggest things WWE could be planning at Stomping Grounds

Who will emerge victorious?

WWE delivered action-packed episodes of RAW and SmackDown Live this week and the fans are eagerly waiting for Sunday. A total of nine matches are set to take place at Stomping Grounds.

Stomping Grounds will be held at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. The Universal Champion Seth Rollins will face Baron Corbin, while Samoa Joe will defend the US Title against Ricochet. The WWE Championship will be on the line in a Steel Cage match when Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler square off.

The Smackdown Tag Team Champions Erick Rowan and Daniel Bryan will face Heavy Machinery. Bayley will put the blue belt on the line against Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch will defend the RAW Women's Championship against Lacey Evans. Two non-title matches are scheduled to take place as Roman Reigns will take on Drew McIntyre, and Big E and Xavier Woods will face Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a Tag Team match.

Here we discuss three things WWE could be planning at Stomping Grounds.

#3 The Miz could be the back-up of Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns will lock horns with Drew McIntyre at the Tacoma Dome. It will be a rematch of WrestleMania where the Big Dog overpowered the Scottish Psychopath. Considering the proficiency of the two Superstars, it was certainly a substandard match, so, they will be aiming to deliver a better match at Stomping Grounds.

Reigns will enter the match after a shocking loss at Super ShowDown. The Big Dog suffered his first loss of the year against Shane McMahon. McIntyre's Claymore Kick helped Shane to pin Reigns. McIntyre, on the other hand, will be eyeing to avenge his previous loss by beating Roman Reigns at Stomping Grounds.

Apart from Roman Reigns, The Miz has been also dealing with McIntyre and Shane McMahon. The A-Lister was humiliated by the two men in the last two weeks. An interference helped Shane to defeat Reigns, and the latter will be cautious at the Tacoma Dome. Therefore, it will not be surprising if the Big Dog brings his own back-up. Judging by the Miz's involvement in this storyline, the A-Lister could be at ringside at Stomping Grounds.

#2 Ricochet could stun Samoa Joe

The United States Championship will be on the line at Stomping Grounds when Ricochet fights Samoa Joe. The former NXT North American Champion fought hard to become the number one contender as he overcame four other big names on RAW this week. Ricochet beat Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley, Cesaro and the Miz in a Fatal 5-Way match.

There is no denying that Ricochet is a spectacular performer in the squared circle and he is one of the best high flyers of WWE. After making his main roster debut this year, it is his first singles title opportunity. Considering the in-ring performance of Ricochet, he could be the right candidate to get a good push.

Joe didn't work hard to regain the belt after losing it to Rey Mysterio at Money in the Bank, but Ricochet will not be a cakewalk for the current United States Champion. It will not be surprising if a 630 connects and Joe gets pinned at the Tacoma Dome. Regardless of the outcome of the match, the bout has the potential to steal the show on Sunday.

#1 Bobby Lashley could become the guest referee of the Universal Championship match

We will see a rematch of Super ShowDown when Seth Rollins will take on Baron Corbin. Unlike their previous bout, Corbin will have an advantage at Stomping Grounds. Corbin will choose a special guest referee of his preference, and he could reveal it on Sunday.

Corbin was supposed to announce a guest referee on RAW this week, but it didn't happen. As a matter of fact, Corbin picked some names for the role but Rollins assaulted the Superstars who showed interest in being a special referee.

Bobby Lashley, who has a long association with Baron Corbin, could become the guest referee of the bout. Lashley doesn't have a match at Stomping Grounds and he might help his friend at the Tacoma Dome. Since the two-time Intercontinental Champion is a force to be reckoned with, Rollins might think twice before attacking him before the Universal Championship match on Sunday. Furthermore, Lashley's involvement could open the gate for a dream rivalry with Brock Lesnar if the latter attempts to cash in the Money in the Bank contract.
