NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool will take place this Saturday on January 12, 2019, at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, Lancashire, England on the WWE Network (starting at 2 PM for those in the Eastern Time Zone).
Pete Dunne will face one of his biggest challenges to date in Joe Coffey for the NXT UK Championship, Rhea Ripley will defend her title for the third time against Toni Storm, Moustache Mountain will face off with Grizzled Young Veterans to become the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, Eddie Dennis will face off with the undefeated Dave Mastiff in NXT UK's first ever no disqualification match, and two of NXT UK's top superstars in Jordan Devilin and Travis Banks will face off to gain momentum and potentially challenge for the NXT UK Championship in the future.
Here are three bold predictions for the PPV.
#3 WALTER makes his debut
It was announced earlier last year in 2018 in November that WALTER has signed a contract with WWE and will soon be debuting as a part of the NXT UK brand. It is heavily rumoured that WALTER will be making some sort of appearance tomorrow at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool. There are two different ways that this can happen. The first way would be that he can debut in the crowd. Several NXT wrestlers including Bobby Roode, Candice LeRae, the War Raiders, Ricochet, EC3, Keith Lee, and Matt Riddle have all appeared in the crowd before making their NXT debut and WALTER can be the next person to do so.
The second way would involve WALTER doing something more impactful. The match between Jordan Devlin and Travis Banks has the least stakes so it is definitely possible that WALTER interferes in the match or after the match he can confront or potentially attack the winner or loser of the match. If WALTER were to be a face, he could face off with Jordan Devlin. If WALTER would be a heel, he could face off with Travis Banks in another excellent match.
#2 Moustache Mountain win the NXT UK Tag Team Champions
The Grizzled Young Veterans have to be considered the favourites to win the NXT UK Tag Team Championships. They have gotten the best of Moustache Mountain multiple times with Zack Gibson actually picking up a victory over Trent Seven with assistance from James Drake. Moustache Mountain also went through a gruelling six-man tag team match as British Strong Style faced off with Gallus and lost the match.
Grizzled Young Veterans are the fresh competitors and as a result are the favourites to win the match. However, it is definitely possible that Moustache Mountain can get the win. If you look at the NXT UK Tag Team division, the only potential face competitors that Grizzled Young Veterans can potentially face are Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams and Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster who they have already faced before.
However, Bate and Trent can defend their titles against the likes of Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel. There can also be a no disqualification five-man tag team match between Gallus and British Strong Style which can be for both the NXT UK Championship and the NXT UK Tag Team Titles.
#1 Pete Dunne retains the NXT UK Championship against Joe Coffey
Joe Coffey has been gaining a large amount of momentum over the past few months. Ever since forming a tag team with Mark Coffey at the NXT UK Championship Tournament earlier in June 2018, Joe Coffey has defeated several opponents including Ligero, Travis Banks, Trent Seven, and Mark Andrews, and has also pinned Tyler Bate in six-man Tag Team action when Gallus defeated British Strong Style in the main event of the latest episode of NXT UK.
Because Joe Coffey has so much momentum, it seems likely that he will become the new NXT UK Champion. However, it would make more sense for Pete Dunne to continue his reign. He has been so great as champion and there is a better NXT UK Championship title feud than that. Pete Dunne should arguably face off with Eddie Dennis because the two superstars actually have a history. Therefore, Pete Dunne will retain the United Kingdom Championship.
