Even though the United States Champion AJ Styles has been putting up some thrilling matches during his reign, the United States title has been playing second fiddle on RAW to the Universal title feud between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. On one hand, WWE wants AJ Styles to be in the main event picture, where he belongs. On the other hand, WWE needs someone who can do justice to the US Title.
WWE has done a brilliant job at building Cedric Alexander to play that role and has been given quite a big push, after he pinned Styles during the 10-Man Tag Team contest. Alexander also defeated Drew McIntyre, defeated Sami Zayn, pinned AJ Styles and was even booked strong in his King of the Ring defeat to Baron Corbin. Alexander is also getting consistent crowd support and could be a favorite to win the title.
