AEW has become the new competition in the wrestling world, mainly to WWE since the show now airs on Wednesday nights at the same time as WWE's NXT. Competition is healthy and it appears that for the most part both company's are doing well when it comes to ratings and another promotion just means that there is more wrestling to watch.

That being said, AEW has taken a number of shots at WWE over the past few weeks and WWE has returned the favor. There are rumors about many stars who want to leave WWE and head to AEW when their contracts are up and it appears that WWE is doing everything to prevent this.

Whilst both companies have managed to co-exist for more than a month there are some stars who have been pushed into quite the predicament since they are dating someone who is working for the other promotion.

Here are three couples who have been able to make their cross-promotion relationships work over the past few weeks.

#3. Shawn Spears (Tye Dillinger) and Peyton Royce

Tye Dillinger looked like he would accomplish some big things in WWE when he was known as The Perfect 10 in NXT, but sadly this didn't come to fruition when he was promoted to the main roster. Dillinger's release from the company was a shock back in February after it was revealed that he had actually asked to be released and the company had granted his request just three days later.

Dillinger left the company but when he headed over to AEW and became known as Shawn Spears, he left his long-time girlfriend and fiance Peyton Royce behind. The couple met during their time in NXT and have been dating ever since 2015. Thankfully for them, Spears' move hasn't come between the two stars, as they were married in August 2019.

#2. Adam Cole and Britt Baker

Adam Cole is the current NXT Champion and has played a huge part in the invasions of both SmackDown and RAW over the past few days. Cole main evented both shows against Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins respectively, which shows how much potential WWE see in the former Ring of Honor star.

There was a time when the company also pursued his girlfriend Britt Baker, who wrestled Shayna Baszler on an episode of NXT last year. Despite the fact that Baker put on a great showing against the NXT Women's Champion, Baker decided to sign with AEW and is now an integral part of their Women's Division, and she seems to be heading towards a title match against Women's World Champion Riho. Baker was even given special treatment when she made her homecoming in Pittsburgh two weeks ago.

The couple seems to be supporting each other from opposite sides of the fence. Baker has been spotted at ringside supporting Cole at a number of Takeover events, whilst Cole has Tweeted several times to show his support to his girlfriend, who is also a qualified dentist.

#1. Renee Young and Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose)

Dean Ambrose was once one of WWE's hottest stars. He was one-third of the wildly popular Shield group and is a former World Champion. It was revealed in 2018 that Ambrose wasn't re-signing with the company when his contract expired in April and all his friends were unable to change his mind, so he left WWE soon after WrestleMania 35.

Ambrose apparently told Vince McMahon that he needed some time away from the company and would be back, but instead, he made his debut for AEW at Double or Nothing the following month. Ambrose returned to using his previous ring name, Jon Moxley, and left his wife Renee Young behind in WWE. In the months that have followed, Renee Young has been taken off commentary on Monday Night RAW and is now the host of WWE Backstage on FS1.

Moxley has become one of the biggest stars in AEW over the past few months and has been able to work with the freedom that he requested when he was with WWE, which has included a tour with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. It appears that the move has worked out for both stars who met during their time in WWE a number of years ago.
