As of now, when it seems that McIntyre has lost his rythem and charm, he needs a character change. Given that a rivalry with the Fiend may work wonders for him.
McIntyre could be a more than worthy opponent for The Fiend. Because of the arrogant persona The Scottish Psychopath has, he would never meekly surrender before The Fiend.
This rivalry may be brought up when The Fiend's terror is at its peak. The chosen one might be presented as the only person who could withstand The Fiend for long. He may take a page out from the Randy Orton's book and do something that endangers the Fiend's existence.
By giving a tough fight to The Fiend, and saving other superstars from the agony of the Mandible Claw, (which no one else could do before) McIntyre will receive the WWE universe's respect and sympathy leading to a face turn.
