CM Punk and WWE have has their history with both entities dissing each other regularly. In spite of all the bad blood, CM Punk still remains hugely popular amongst the WWE Universe with fans constantly chanting out for him, much to the McMahons' annoyance.

While a CM Punk return is nearly impossible in the near future, WWE does have a history of recalling superstars with whom they had a fall-out. Superstars such as Goldberg, Sting and even Jeff Jarrett have made returns to the main roster in recent times.

All of these returns direct to an eminent CM Punk return, which could precisely be what the WWE need with a dearth in talents evident on both rosters. While Cody Rhodes is also one wrestler the WWE fans would love to see return to the WWE, the emergence of his pet-project AEW rules this proposition out completely. CM Punk's failed MMA career has seen him on the sidelines for a considerable period of time and could gear up for at least a special appearance in the coming years.
