Aleister Black has been a babyface ever since he debuted on WWE NXT in 2017. He had a successful run in NXT as a mysterious babyface character for more than a year before he debuted on the main roster earlier this year. He formed a tag team with Ricochet and even competed for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 35.

After that, he was drafted to SmackDown Live during the Superstar Shakeup. He has not been in involved in any feud since he arrived on the blue brand. WWE has been airing his promo vignettes on SmackDown Live in the recent weeks. His promos indicate that Black might undergo character transformation when he makes his much-awaited in-ring return.
SmackDown Live is in dire need of a main event level heel right now. Aleister Black can potentially fill that role and become the next break out star. Finn Balor currently does not have a match at the PPV. If WWE decides to book an impromptu open challenge kind of match for the Intercontinental Championship, then heel Aleister Black will be the perfect opponent for Balor.
