Royal Rumble is one of the largest and most anticipated PPVs of the year. This year's Royal Rumble event will be held on 27 January 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona. Every year in the Royal Rumble match some extraordinary moments are created be it the debut of AJ Styles or the shocking return of Rey Mysterio but the most memorable moments are the returns of major superstars that shake the fans to their core.

2018 didn't end the way WWE would have wanted it to end as the ratings of RAW and SmackDown Live plunged to historic lows. So, WWE will try to make the first PPV of 2019 an enormous success and one of the things that they can do to make the fans happy and tune in is by bringing back some great superstars as surprise entrants in this year's Royal Rumble match.

So who are the superstars who can make a return in this year's Rumble match? We will find out right here.

#3 Batista

Can WWE shock us all by setting up a match between ' The Beast Incarnate' and 'The Animal'?

WWE is currently facing a shortage of credible superstars as many of its top stars are suffering from injuries and ailments. Batista is a superstar that can help the WWE here, he has become a really big star in Hollywood and also has a huge fan following.

If he makes a return at this year's Royal Rumble, it will make the match much more interesting and it will also garner mainstream media's attention which we all know Vince McMahon loves.

WWE could also consider him as an option to win the Royal Rumble. They could then set up a dream match between 'The Animal' and 'The Beast Incarnate.' Avengers 4 is also scheduled to release in May, just after the month of WrestleMania 35. The best way to cross-promote is by featuring 'The Animal' at 'The Grandest Stage of Them All.'

#2 The Rock

If The Rock returns at Royal Rumble, we can be sure that the fans will blow the roofs off with their cheers! Rock last wrestled in 2013, and since then he has shifted his principal focus on his Hollywood ventures.

He is one of the biggest Hollywood celebrities right now and has major star power. If the 'Brahma Bull' returns at the Royal Rumble, it definitely will provide WWE with some significant boost in star power and ratings which they desperately need.

Some rumours claim that the initial plan for the Royal Rumble was for The Rock to win and challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35, but that plan was scrapped due to Roman Reigns' leukaemia.

But it doesn't mean that WWE can't pit the 'People's Champ' against any other superstar. He could win the Royal Rumble and face Lesnar or Bryan for their respective World Titles, OR he could face a young superstar like Drew McIntyre and help him to solidify his position as a main eventer.

#1 The Undertaker

'The Deadman' can shock everyone by returning at the Royal Rumble

'The Phenom' last wrestled at WWE Crown Jewel and it must be noted that he looked in much better shape than he did back when he wrestled Cena at 'Mania 34. It looked like that he still has the gas in his tank to put on a couple of decent matches before he retires.

He could make his return at the Royal Rumble and the sound of his gong will definitely leave the fans awestruck.

The Deadman could have a face off with a young superstar like Finn Balor which will plant the seeds of a future match between the two which will most probably take place at 'The Grandest Stage of Them All.' It will be amazing to see Demon Finn vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35.

The match will be the perfect retirement match for 'The Deadman' as he will pass the torch to a young superstar like Finn Balor in a high stakes match.
