The start of the rivalry dates back to a match with Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in a Hell in a cell match. During this match, Undertaker’s half-brother Kane debuted and gave Undertaker a tombstone pile driver, Undertaker’s own finishing move! However, The Undertaker refused to fight his half-brother. It was only after Kane locked The Undertaker in a coffin and set it on fire did The “Lord of Darkness” accept the offer. The tension went on for two months before they faced off at Wrestlemania 14.

The match went on to be a legendary one, a fight between two “larger than life” figures in The “Attitude era”. They had a long unresolved history with each other and the stage had been set up for vengeance. It took Undertaker three tombstones to beat the megalomaniac Kane. At the time of the fight, no fighter has ever survived more than one tombstone in a match against Undertaker. The fact that Kane did take three makes him a superhuman figure in the game.

2. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels: Wrestlemania 25

When Shawn Michaels returned to the WWE, he did not cross paths with The Undertaker immediately. He was a Raw guy while The Undertaker was a Smackdown guy. The intensity between them grew up when Michaels was the runner-up in Royal Rumble 2007 to The Undertaker. As the 25th Wrestlemania was approaching, Shawn Michaels challenged The Undertaker. It was more just a main event at Wrestlemania, it was The Streak vs. Mr. Wrestlemania.

Shawn was always considered as an angel while Undertaker was a sign of the devil. When they descended into the arena, Michaels in a white cloak and Undertaker from under the stage; the fight between the bad and good became prominent. The Wrestling that followed was incredible. In the end, The Undertaker put an end to Mr. Wrestlemania’s career after a bloody battle of thirty minutes.

A match which has been dubbed as “The End of an Era”; The Undertaker and Triple H faced off in this auspicious Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania 28. Shawn Michaels featured as the guest referee of the match. A few weeks earlier, The Deadman arrived in the stage out of nowhere and challenged The King of Kings to end this rivalry once and for all. After certain comments towards his longtime friend, Shawn Michaels, Triple H enraged in fury accepted the offer!

The match to “end an era” started with both the fighters going back and forth, using every move carefully. Both landed quite a few serious knocks to the other. The match intensified when Triple H bought chairs and his trademark sledgehammer up into the stage. Triple H went on giving his killer moves; from Hell’s gate to Pedigrees but The Undertaker kept on rising. He had nothing left in his arsenal when The Undertaker performed a Tombstone and finished him off.

After the match, Shawn Michaels lifted up Undertaker and declared him the winner. He was invincible. Later, they lifted up a shattered Triple H and carried him together. The crowd in Miami gave a standing ovation to what was considered as one of the greatest examples of sportsmanship spirit and respect.
