3 possible opponents for Randy Orton at WrestleMania 34

Smackdown Live Superstar Randy Orton also a 14-time World Champion.

Randy Orton has been a big part of the Wrestlemania build up for the past few years, but this year, something felt different. It's the middle of February and we're still not sure of Randy Orton's role for "the grandest stage of them all". Still, in the best shape of his career, it would be stupid to not put Randy Orton in the position to steal the show with somebody.

So, today I've decided to speculate on the role for Randy Orton this year at Wrestlemania 34.

#3 Rusev

Aiden English and Former 2-time United States Champion, Rusev.
Aiden English and Former 2-time United States Champion, Rusev.

Rusev is a former 2-time United States champion who was once the most dominant force in the WWE carrying an undefeated streak for a little more than a year, Rusev was a force to be reckoned with. Despite the fact that Rusev's position has fallen quite a bit in recent years, nowadays Rusev is now one of the most over characters in WWE. Declaring that every day is named after him, even getting popular enough where WWE had to make calendars with Rusev's face all over it. The only problem is he's supposed to a heel.

This is when you enter Randy Orton, somebody who has RKO'd Rusev out of nowhere in recent weeks. Rusev needs a good win to bring himself back to a mid-card talent in the eyes of the fans, and Randy Orton can show frustration in losing snapping, brutal beating Rusev and Aiden English after the match and fully turning heel. If two things are known it's Randy Orton works much better as a heel, and Rusev is too over to be a heel right now. Could we be seeing a double turn at Wrestlemania 34 if this match was to take place? By the way, Happy Rusev Day!

#2 Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin, Former Money In the bank winner.
Baron Corbin, Former Money In the Bank winner and Andre the Giant memorial battle royal winner.

Since losing his money In the bank briefcase, Corbin hasn't been used very much on Smackdown Live. When he is used it's usually with a bigger name, such as Shinsuke Nakamura or Bobby Roode. Granted, it wouldn't necessarily a bad thing if he was given a win every so often, I can't remember the last time Baron Corbin won a meaningful match.

Randy Orton and Baron Corbin have rarely crossed paths, making this a fresh match up. Granted, Baron Corbin wasn't able to show much personality outside the ring. A feud with Randy Orton could change that up and hopefully teach Baron Corbin about getting effective heat as a heel. Give these two solid times during the build to Wrestlemania and these two could surprise a lot of people.

#1 Bobby Roode(United States Championship match)

On August 22nd, Bobby Roode made his glorious Smackdown Live debut. Since then, Bobby Roode has gone on to win the United States Champion. After his title defense last week on Smackdown Live, Bobby Roode was celebrating his victory when the Viper Randy Orton appeared out of nowhere and delivered an RKO to Roode. This has been the first time these two stars have crossed, what could be the motivation behind it?

Well, you see, Randy Orton has won every championship there is to win besides the one championship that Bobby Roode has. If built correctly, this could be a story of the Veteran wrestler, but new to the WWE, defending his championship against a hungry veteran who has yet to win the United States championship during his run in WWE. While Randy Orton has never been the best babyface, he could be a nice foil for a heel Bobby Roode. If they are given the right amount of time, these two could have a classic match with each other. Just off the drama on if Randy Orton will capture his first US championship to become a Grand Slam Champion.
