A unique six-pack challenge match closed Raw few weeks before the No Mercy PPV to determine the new #1 contender for The Miz's Intercontinental Championship. This match was a fatal 4-way involving Elias, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Jason Jordan.
The Miz himself got involved twice in this match, helping his allies, by throwing the former American Alpha member into the crowd and, then, breaking the pin after the Charismatic Enigma executed a Swanton Bomb on Axel.
However, the Must-see Star's efforts were not fruitful as Jordan executed a picture-perfect Angle slam-neckbreaker on the Axe-man for the win, setting up his one-on-one title match against The Miz.
Result: Jason Jordan defeated Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Elias, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy to become the #1 contender for Intercontinental Championship
