After months of speculations and cryptic Instagram posts, 'The Boss' Sasha Banks made her triumphant return to WWE as she brutally attacked the Raw Women's Champion, Becky Lynch and an injured Natalya (in front of her home crowd).

The manner in which Sasha Banks and Bayley were booked at WrestleMania this year and the emergence of an alternative known as All Elite Wrestling gave us indications that Banks might be jumping the ship. It is worth noting that Sasha and Bayley were the Women's Tag Team Champions until WrestleMania 35, wherein they lost the title to the IIconics.

This result was not received well by the fans and especially, by Sasha Banks. It was heavily rumoured that she is unhappy with her position in the company and the loss at WrestleMania 35 was the final nail in the coffin. However, much to the delight of the fans, Sasha Banks made a jaw-dropping return to WWE on Raw this week.

There are a number of reasons why the return of 'The Legit Boss' was important for WWE and the fans alike. Let us look at the reasons why.

#3 The void in the Women's Division since WrestleMania

Becky Lynch

During this year's WrestleMania, the women's revolution was projected as the biggest thing in WWE at the time, as we witnessed the first-ever all women's main-event at 'The Grandest Stage Of Them All' featuring Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey. The scale at which WWE built up the women's revolution made us all believe that it is here to stay.

Unfortunately, since then, the women's division has lost a lot of steam, largely owing to Ronda Rousey's departure from WWE and also wearing off of Becky Lynch's momentum as 'The Man' due to inconsistent storytelling and lack of credible competition. The women's division has officially been struggling for attention and it needed something remarkable to turn things around.

Sasha Banks' return is definitely a shot in the arm for WWE in its bid to rejuvenate the division. Furthermore, her return as a heel adds to the fans and the division's delight as it desperately needed someone other than Charlotte Flair who is credible enough to challenge Becky Lynch as the top superstar of the division.

#2 The possibilities of dream matches still alive

As mentioned earlier, WWE stepped up the gas up by several notches with regards to the women's revolution at this year's WrestleMania with the Triple Threat Match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey.

Although this was made possible mostly due to Rousey's presence, the next step for the division would have been the main event bout between its homegrown talent of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Sasha Banks, famously known as 'The Four Horsewomen' of WWE. We did witness a Triple Threat Match between Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 32. However, this possible Fatal 4-Way match is a dream match in the Women's division for a number of years.

Another match that has widely speculated in the Internet Wrestling Community is between 'The Four Horsewomen of WWE' and 'The Four Horsewomen of MMA', Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke. It is worth noting that all these four mentioned individuals are currently signed with WWE.

All these plans seemed to be in the clouds with the sudden departure of Sasha Banks post WrestleMania. However, with her recent return, WWE can once again may look to fulfill these plans.

#1 WWE's gain is AEW's loss

AEW
AEW

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is, officially, in direct competition with WWE. The two promotions are about to go head-to-head on television with the launch of AEW's weekly show on TNT beginning October 2, 2019. However, in the meantime, the two companies are squaring off against each other for talent and personnel. Superstars such as Jon Moxley (formerly known as Dean Ambrose in WWE), Shawn Spears (formerly known as Tye Dillinger) and the legendary Chris Jericho have already been roped in by AEW.

AEW's women's division currently consists of talented wrestlers such as Dr. Britt Baker, Kylie Rae, Bea Priestley, Allie, Sadie Gibbs, Awesome Kong and many more. However, it is missing the star attraction which would pull the fans' attention towards the division.

Sasha Bank's apparent unhappiness with the way she was being treated in WWE would have increased the hopes for AEW to rope her into the promotion. This speculation was further fueled by her departure from WWE post-WrestleMania and the numerous cryptic Instagram posts thereafter.

However, Banks' recent return to WWE has put a full stop to all these speculations. WWE's ability to improve its relations with Sasha Banks is certainly a loss for AEW, nonetheless.
