Jade Cargill was attacked backstage during last week’s episode of SmackDown. During a first-round Women’s United States Championship tournament match, footage aired showing Jade laid out on top of a car in the parking lot.
WWE later released a statement revealing that she had sustained multiple injuries. The statement also noted that there is no timetable set for The Storm's return to action.
Jade’s tag team partner, Bianca Belair, has been trying to find out who was behind the attack. However, she has not been successful so far. Here are three signs that Naomi could be Jade Cargill's mystery attacker.
#3. Naomi could be tired of being the third wheel
The Women’s Royal Rumble match earlier this year featured two standout moments. The first was Naomi’s return to WWE, entering the Rumble at the number two spot. Later, Jade Cargill made her highly anticipated WWE debut. Jade's first outing arguably overshadowed Naomi’s return in some aspects.
Since then, Jade, Naomi, and Bianca Belair have formed a close friendship, often referred to as The Big Three. The trio even teamed up at WrestleMania 40 to secure a victory over Damage CTRL.
However, there is a possibility that Naomi might feel overshadowed by the attention Jade has been receiving. This jealousy could potentially be a motive for someone attacking Jade in the first place.
#2. Naomi's recent X/Twitter activity
Since the shocking attack on Jade Cargill last week, fans have taken to social media to speculate about the identity of the attacker. Several names, including Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Bianca Belair, and Naomi, have been mentioned in these discussions.
Naomi has publicly responded to the accusations, insisting on her innocence and claiming she would never attack Jade. However, the sheer number of tweets she has posted defending herself has raised some eyebrows, with many feeling that she is being overly defensive.
This behavior is a sign that the former Women’s Champion could, in fact, be guilty.
#1. The Bayley factor
Before the recent attack on SmackDown, Jade Cargill was set to compete in the Women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series. She was scheduled to team up with Bianca Belair, Naomi, IYO SKY, and Rhea Ripley. However, due to the multiple injuries Jade suffered during the attack, she was removed from the match.
On the latest episode of RAW, Bianca Belair brought up the topic of finding out who attacked her tag team partner. However, Naomi quickly dismissed it, stating their priority should be determining the fifth member for their team at Survivor Series. Naomi then suggested her best friend Bayley as a replacement. This idea didn’t sit well with Belair and SKY, who were hesitant due to their past issues with The Role Model.
Later that night, Bayley interfered in the advantage match between Belair and Nia Jax, costing Nia the win and allowing Belair to secure the advantage for her team heading into WarGames. Despite their history, Belair’s post-match reaction seemed to approve of Bayley’s actions.
This was confirmed when WWE’s official X/Twitter account announced that Bayley had been added as Jade’s replacement for WarGames. These series of events have fueled speculation that both Naomi and Bayley may have been involved in the brutal backstage attack on Jade Cargill.
