The Universal Championship storyline took a new turn this week, as a new opponent emerged for Bray Wyatt at TLC. With Daniel Bryan unable to recover after the vicious attack by The Fiend last week, The Miz stepped up and will take on the Universal Champion at TLC. However, it will be a non-title match and the A-Lister will not lock horns with The Fiend.

The Miz opened SmackDown with another episode of The Miz TV, but he was interrupted by Bray Wyatt, who proceeded to show a photo of The Miz's family in the Firefly Fun House. A worried Miz left the ring, but he was eventually assaulted by Bray Wyatt in the backstage area, planting a seed for a match at TLC.

Since returning with a completely new character, it will be the first match of Bray Wyatt in the squared circle, considering he fought his previous bouts as The Fiend. Given Bryan was absent from the show and has a possibility of coming back with a rejuvenated look and character, it could happen at TLC, where The Miz will take on Bray Wyatt. If Bryan costs Wyatt the match, it could ignite The Fiend more, making the Universal Championship rematch enormous at Royal Rumble.
