3 Things WWE made clear on the season premiere of RAW (30 September 2019)

It was a solid show
It was a solid show

With a new stage, a new logo, and a new theme song, WWE produced a refreshed episode of RAW. The season premiere of RAW certainly lived up to the hype, with several good matches headlining the episode. Some big names were present on the Red Brand this week, introducing a new chapter in WWE.

A total of three title matches took place on this episode as Cedric Alexander faced AJ Styles for the US Championship match, a match that was clinched by the latter. The RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode defeated Heavy Machinery.

While Rey Mysterio's Universal Title match against Seth Rollins was spoiled by an attack from Brock Lesnar, the Beastslayer was involved in a title clash with Rusev in the main event of the night, which was interrupted by a returning Bobby Lashley.

Here we discuss three things WWE made clear on RAW this week.

#3 AJ Styles will not defend the US Title at Hell in a Cell

Cedric Alexander received another title shot on the season premiere of RAW, where he faced the US Champion, AJ Styles. It was certainly one of the best matches of the night, and The Phenomenal One managed to retain the title. Since Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson weren't at the ringside, it was a great match without any interference.

The duo had previously clashed for the US Championship at Clash of Champions and although their previous match didn't meet expectations, both men showed their in-ring dexterity on RAW this week. After winning the bout fair and square, it is unlikely that Styles will fight Cedric again at Hell in a Cell.

A number of titles will be defended on the line at Hell in a Cell, but AJ Styles doesn't have an opponent to defend the US Title. Given the rivalry between Styles and Cedric is done and dusted, we could find out the next challenger for Styles in the next week of RAW.

#2 The Universal Title will not be on the line at Crown Jewel

Universal Champion Seth Rollins is set to put his title on the line against The Fiend at Hell in a Cell. Given the recent build-up of Bray Wyatt's new character, it is expected to be a monumental match for the Beastslayer. So far, The Fiend has been the dominant one in this rivalry, attacking Rollins multiple times, including on the season premiere of RAW.

A huge announcement was made on RAW this week as Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, arguably two of the biggest names in WWE announced their participation at Crown Jewel, which is the next pay-per-view after Hell in a Cell.

While Team Hogan will take on Team Flair in Saudi Arabia, the team captains were also revealed on RAW. Seth Rollins will lead Team Hogan, while Randy Orton will be the captain of Team Flair.

The announcement made clear that the Universal Championship will not be defended at Crown Jewel. Whether Rollins loses the title or retains the title at Hell in a Cell, the feud between Rollins and The Fiend is unlikely to end after Hell in a Cell. Since Rollins will be part of the 10-Man Tag Team match, the Universal Title rematch will not happen at Crown Jewel.

#1 Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio will feud in the future

Brock Lesnar wreaked havoc on the season premiere of RAW, dismantling Rey Mysterio and his son Dominick. Rey Mysterio opened the show as the masked Superstar was scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Title. However, Mysterio was interrupted by Lesnar and Paul Heyman.

When Lesnar entered the ring, he confronted Mysterio and delivered two vicious F5s. The Beast wasn't done there, as he also targeted Rey Mysterio's Dominick, who was sitting in the ringside. Lesnar was in Beast mode and he showed no mercy and after the brutal assault, Dominick was taken out of the arena on a stretcher.

It is clear that Lesnar and Mysterio will have a feud in future, with Dominick also possibly involved in the fight. Given that Lesnar will take on the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston on SmackDown's FOX debut, the segment definitely helped Lesnar in attaining momentum. Lesnar will be the ultimate favourite to win the WWE Title, and Mysterio could challenge him if the latter moves to SmackDown in the next draft.
