Royal Rumble is one of the biggest PPVs of the year, and the road to WrestleMania starts from Royal Rumble. It is a dual brand pay-per-view, and the superstars from both brands take part. It is set to take place at Pheonix, Arizona on 27th January 2019.

Royal Rumble has a long history, and the PPV started 30 years ago. The first Royal Rumble match was held in 1988, and the Battle Royal match is the main attraction of Royal Rumble. The Battle Royal match is a 30-man match where the superstars try to eliminate each other from the ring.

However, it was a 40-man Royal Rumble match in 2011. As a matter of fact, the Greatest Royal Rumble was a 50-man Battle Royal match which was held in Saudi Arabia last year.

The women's Royal Rumble match commenced last year, and Royal Rumble will have two Battle Royal matches this year. Shinsuke Nakamura won the men's Royal Rumble last year. The current Smackdown women's champion Asuka won the first ever women's Royal Rumble match.

Several elite superstars have won the Royal Rumble match in the history of WWE. Wrestlers like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Undertaker, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and many more won the Royal Rumble and headlined WrestleMania. However, underrated superstars like Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio also won Royal Rumble match in the past.

Samoa Joe is an extraordinary performer in the squared circle, and he has been wrestling for 19 years. He was a top-notch superstar in TNA, but he hasn't been able to repeat the same success in WWE. He won the NXT title twice and became the first ever two-time NXT champion. Though Joe was in the title picture after his main roster debut, he has not won any title in the main roster.
