Throughout history, WWE has created a plethora of characters. Fans have seen characters with intensity like Ken Shamrock, then characters with narcism such as Lex Luger. However, each performed differently. Albeit their success was dependant on multiple factors. In recent years, WWE has created new brands and developed their NXT division, affording unique opportunities.

Firstly, performers were able to shine through, such as Mustafa Ali on SmackDown, (watch the video below). It provided an opportunity to excite wrestling fans. Finally, it would generate motivation for others to succeed. However, in previous years, WWE failed to utilize their talent effectively, with support going to main event performers.

A great example would be Roman Reigns consistently being pushed, albeit negative crowd reactions. Nevertheless, WWE always reacts with an immense plan to improve their entertainment value. But what will happen in 2019? Let's explore a few options.

Since 2016, WWE has afforded excellent content via the NXT UK division. The success has led to the introduction of NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool, (watch the video below). However, what makes the brand successful, is the performers, notable names such as Tyler Bate, Joe Coffey, and Mark Andrews. However, a particular name is Pete Dunne, the NXT UK Champion.

Dunne is a member of British Strong Style alongside Trent Seven and Tyler Bate. Together they made names for themselves in Progress Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling, and ICW. Ultimately their actions helped develop the modern British wrestling scene. Being 25 years old, Dunne has a bright future.

The progress Dunne has made within WWE is positive. Moreover, he has almost singlehandedly improved the NXT UK Championship to prestigious heights. Therefore, at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool it is likely Dunne's reign will end. Thus, Dunne is free to join Raw or SmackDown, which would be awesome for him.

#2 Drew McIntyre

Back in 2009, Drew McIntyre was expected to progress within WWE, being handpicked by Vince McMahon. However, he would eventually wind up in the group 3MB, alongside Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater. In 2014, McIntyre would depart WWE to return to the independent circuit.

Between 2014 and 2017, McIntyre performed for a plethora of promotions, notably including Evolve, Impact Wrestling, and ICW. His popularity dramatically improved, becoming a sensation among fans. In 2017, McIntyre returned to WWE. From 2017 to 2018, McIntyre dominated within NXT, becoming NXT Champion.

Since April 2018, McIntyre has slowly progressed from his alliance with Dolph Ziggler. In recent weeks evidence suggests McIntyre has a bright future. He defeated Ziggler in stellar fashion on Raw, (watch the video below). Considering McIntyre's credentials and recent performances he will be extremely relevant in 2019. Therefore, WWE must invest time into his act. Especially with AEW lurking.

Becky Lynch has progressed exponentially since changing her character. At WWE Evolution, Lynch successfully retained the SmackDown Women's championship against Charlotte. After her victory, Lynch began using the moniker, The Man, (watch the video below). Since then her performance has been excellent.

Whether battling comments on her Twitter feed or in the ring, Lynch seems unstoppable. Although an excellent performer throughout her career, it is her current character which shines through. Moreover, it cements the aura of WWE women's wrestling. Ultimately, Lynch has become a mainstay element within WWE.

Considering AEW lurking behind the scenes, WWE must change their direction. With Lynch's extreme popularity she draws revenue anywhere she performs. Will Lynch become synonymous with WWE, like past stars Hulk Hogan, John Cena, or CM Punk? She certainly has the credentials. Moreover, it would be an epic way to battle AEW.
